Did anyone use this method to root a Samsung Galaxy J5?
Any known issues?
I know that Kingo Root had some limitation and was working on < Android 5.0.1

Do i have to set the OAM unlock in the developer options?

Thanks for any advice

Kingo root works perfectly but not without risks and you must set the OAM unlock and USB debugging, personally I find CF Auto Root more easy.

My advice to you is to go to chainfire site download the CF auto root specified to your phone and flash it with Odin.
I tried to flash my Samsung Galaxy J5 SM-J500FN with Odin v3.11.1 and the corresponding Auto-Root file from chainfire.
After installation & reboot there is no homescreen (black image instead). I get messages that many services stopped working (i can confirm them with ok). It's possible to swipe down the menu bar & enter the settings menu. Nothing else outside the settings menu is possible....
