SamFAIL version 3. I realized I was trying to flash an old bootloader version onto a newer system and downgrades aren't supported. So I opted to try to flash oreo instead, but it's now getting stuck on this point in the flash processDid you flash user data? What version of samfail are you on

Are you using the regular odin to flash the Oreo? You can't use comsey odin to flash back to stock..SamFAIL version 3. Unsure how to flash user data. What file is that located in?
I just have the following
bl
ap
cp
csc
home_csc
I wasn't regular ODIN kept giving me a SHA256 issue and would fail. Comsey would go through but wouldn't actually flash properly I guess. Are you using the regular odin to flash the Oreo? You can't use comsey odin to flash back to stock..
It will come....Sorry for off topic... but I don't think Samsung will ever release a combo file again cause they know we can root with it.. thanks for your awesome work me!!
It rooted ... I must have mis understood... was questioning it , but did it anyways l lol.. going back to stock. No bro, that's to root your phone.
If you want to go to stock, just flash your whole firmware in Odin. I downloaded my stock firmware from updato. Literally one click once you have the partitions in place. Wanted to help earlier but my internet provider was down all day, which hasnt happened for years.

MRxxEGO, it seems like you were trying to go back to stock using root method? If so, I don't think you've read much of the thread.
And in part 2 instructions for root, you don't necessarily need to use csc, optionally you can if doesn't work without it. In my case i did and it worked. Took about 3-4 minutes to boot up.
If you are trying to go back to the stock firmware you need to download the correct version for whatever bootloader version you're on and after you download the entire stock firmware .zip you'll need to extract it first and then you'll see inside of the extracted firmware folder the files that you need to add to odin. It should be pretty easy to tell which files go to BL, AP, CP and CSC.. You don't need to use nand erase or the PIT file to return to stock. It rooted ... Flash stocks bl,ap,csc , and user data nothing more right???? Do I need to click erase NAND all or re partion?...
Last time I tried that even with csc it didn't seem to erase the system causing the phone to hang at at custom boot screen
Yeah, I mean, it's not hard. I'm gonna come off ad an asshole, but if you can't understand basic stuff like this, and get confused, you should probably learn on a practice phone first. Not one that you're dependent on.If you are trying to go back to the stock firmware you need to download the correct version for whatever bootloader version you're on and after you download the entire stock firmware .zip you'll need to extract it first and then you'll see inside of the extracted firmware folder the files that you need to add to odin. Unfortunately some people have to learn the hard way sadly.. I'm not sure how someone could mistake the root files for stock firmware files? SamFails files are totally different compared to the stock firmware files.. But like I said some people just have to learn the hard way..Yeah, I mean, it's not hard. That's why I usually recommend for those getting their feet wet, use a practice device. I came from a world of flashing routers through telnet. Talk about a pain in the ass, this stuff is a walk in the park in comparison.Unfortunately some people have to learn the hard way sadly.. I hope it's extra butter.

Here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ot-samfail-galaxy-note8-t3685340/post75705523Ok..back on topic. Are most of the updates to u3 boot mainly security related? Just curious still on u1 and u2, wondering if I'm missing out on anything.
it would be nice if in the written instruction you told us how to flash for thouse of us on the v3 bootloaderOk I'll stay on Android 7.1 and try the root
Did you even read the first page, he gave explicit instructions on how to flash all versions. Put your phone down before you break it.it would be nice if in the written instruction you told us how to flash for thouse of us on the v3 bootloader

If your trying to flash a different version (carrier) it would fail to flash the system because its not the correct version. I would try the latest oreo firmware for your carrier and then boot to recovey and factory reset just to be safewhat carrier do you have? and tell me the exact firmware you're trying to use?
