Just wanted to report it worked for me, there was a slight hiccup regarding something the shell id (my tablet was bootlooping or something and adb didn't detect it i think), but I just continued to the next step and for some reason adb worked then. Overall pretty simple and works great.

Hmm tried this twice with the bat file...not working. Anyone else? No errors, just no root. Bootloop on second reboot but continued thru it....

Worked great for me....I had to reload the Android SDK again cause when I ran the batch file the first time it said the adb was out of date.

not going good for me :( I'm on ubuntu with working adb. copied su to home directory and running all commands from there. when i get to, adb shell "echo \"ro.kernel.qemu=1\" > /data/local.prop", i get, /system/bin/sh: cannot create /data/local.prop: Permission denied. So i never get the right id to continue. Anyways please help. thankx
Same here! I ran it through the batch file, but right after it reboots the first time and I continue on with the rooting process, I get the same error message. I tried it about 5 times to no avail.

Works like a charm! THANK YOU! And thanks for the heads up about the boot loop; probably would have had to change my pants if you didn't.

Ran into absolutely no problems (running adb in OS X). I did it manually.

Just did all of the commands manually, no luck...still not working...

I wonder if it has something to do with, I was rooted with jcase's method before ICS, then lost root due to ICS update. I still have su and the binaries on my device from previous root, any ideas? I cannot remove su without root? I'm stuck here, not really sure what to do...

Has anyone confirmed this working on a TP that lost root due to the ICS update?

I lost the jcase root when I updated to ICS, still had superuser app. etc., and this method worked perfectly for me. Used the su file in the first file link in OP, and copied the commands line per line.

I am going to try this when i get to work. What do you do when it boot loops? I just want to be prepaired.
Just keep trudging along with the commands. I paused for all the other reboots until it started back up. As soon as I noticed it was boot looping I just kept sending the commands.

I am in the same boat; I had jcase's root prior to the ICS update then last root. I tried the bat file and manually entering in the commands. No luck.

I used the Su that was I'm the bat...maybe they're different? Shouldn't be though?

Sent from my Inspire 4G with ICS!

Any chance in the future this can be converted to an apk to install on Prime or a One-click method, per se?

I'm sure Viperboy will make it a VERY simple process. He seems to be really good at "one click" methods!
I will be updating viperMOD PrimeTime shortly, I just want to have OP's permission to do so. May I? I will also be sending you a PM, great work!!

I can't wait to get root on mine. I left this stupid bootamimation on mine when rooted with honeycomb. Strange how the update didn't change my bootanimation to the Asus one.
I will try root later at home. Thanks for posting buddy

Nvidia always!

I got the same response. It won't grant access. I too lost root when the update downloaded. Root was gained via ViperMOD. Avast is the only program still being granted access via SU. All other programs the had access are still showing in the access list but log shows denied. Stuck.
