Port of CF-autoroot for the Tab A and Tab A plus.
Supports all models.

See the link below for details:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3124284

NOTE: does not support Marshmallow.
To root MM install TWRP provided below and use Supersu.

You flash this at your own risk. Please ensure you have the stock ROM to hand downloaded from SAMMOBILE in case of problems. This will trip the knox counter.
Flash with Odin3 v3.10.6.

Please post any feedback.

It doesn't matter which firmware you're running. If your model matches it will work.
Oh, ok. Thank you :)

And one last question, after flashing the CF Auto Root we flash back the stock recovery?

Howto

I didn't find any clear instructions on how to do this except for this french site. I tested with my SM-T550 and it worked like a charm.

Download all files as described in OP, and Odin

1. Turn off your tablet

2. Simultaneously press the keys: Volume Down + Home + Power . Then press volume up to select download mode.
3. On your computer, open Odin in administrator mode. Odin3-v3.10.6.exe in the zip file.

4. Connect your tablet to your computer using the USB cable. In ODIN , the box under ID: COM will be in blue when it has detected your tablet.

5. Click AP then select the file sm-t550_cf -autoroot.tar you downloaded.

6. Check the boxes that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked (look in the "Options" tab). Make sure the box Re-Partition is not checked.

7. Start the root procedure by clicking the Start button and wait a few moments. The tablet will reboot, red android appear and some status message from the auto-root script and then restart in 10 seconds.

8. At the end of the installation, you can disconnect your tablet from your computer.

9. That's it, you are rooted

@sinnadyr Your screen capture after step 6 is different from the .tar file I have downloaded. I have SM-t550_cf-autoroot.tar

Are these the same steps I should be using for my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-P555)? I am a little confused.

You should add a tag to the op so it shows up when searching for the tab a i think its

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Series

Well from the breadcrumb below, it is rather hard to find this thread.

xda-developers > Android Development and Hacking > Miscellaneous Android Development > [ROOT]Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T550/P550/P555/T350/P350/P355

Should these threads be combined into a top level forum such as:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-A-Series

Anyway, this is my two cents on the matter. What do you think?

It would be nice but there is a long list of devices waiting for their own forums

Hi, I'm happy to be constructive. I had to work on upping my post count just to post in here, and I don't know the intricacies of starting a proper forum area for the device. I assumed (incorrectly, I guess) that it was a simple question of simply creating one. Sorry if you think it's all whining, but I've tried to be polite and clear, and I've thanked you many times. I appreciate your work and effort. I'm trying to figure out a way to streamline things.

So, why can't the files be properly posted in this thread along with an updated initial post explaining the process?

    Thanks again.

Because this thread is about rooting not anything else.
Contaminating it with all sorts of other stuff just takes it off topic.
I have been gracious enough to post links here to my builds of twrp and custom roms to help people out.

Nobody here has a god given right to demand anything. I do this for free and don't expect anything but a thanks.
Many developers leave XDA and give up development because of this kind of stuff.

    What's this?:

It's basically a rom for the SM-T555*I created for myself to use Xposed.

    UPDATE:*

    SM-T550 version added

    Supersu v2.56
    Xposed v75

    Features:

    XXU1AOJ1 Base_update 8.10.15

    Deodexed

    Deknoxed

Lightly debloated so as not to lose functionality.

Rooted with latest Supersu v2.56 binaries.

    Xposed framework.

    Install:

    Install via TWRP recovery.

No need to wipe, but if you want a minimal system then its advisable to wipe DATA in recovery.

First boot will take around 10 mins.

    Disclaimer:

As ever you flash this at your own risk, its up to you to ensure you have a backup with TWRP and/or the stock firmware to hand just*in case the Hells Angels decide to ride into to town and kill your device.

NOTE: I'm not really going to support this ROM with updates and such. It is what it is, and its up to you to modify it as you wish, more debloat e.t.c., take it or leave it, just leave out the whinging and whining.*

    Link:

UPDATE :New firmware base uploaded. Xposed updated to latest version v75.
Minimum requirement is to be running the same stock build XXU1AOJ1 before install.*
