there is no twrp at the moment, but you can root it by extract the boot.img file in the firmware then use magisk to patch it.

here is the newest boot.img (12.5.4.0) for xiaomi pad 5 global version

Unlocked my pad today and want to root. Sadly there is no fastboot rom for 12.5.8.0 global available. Can I use the boot.img from 12.5.4.0 fastboot version?

@jaca22 - thanks a lot for your boot.img - it works fine for me. After unlocking the bootloader I could directly install magisk.
