Hi @jcase and @TheSt33v, i posted this in @autoprime 's post but figured i should post it here to since this post is more focused on the XT1254 model.

So i tried to install the Xpose Module with the Magisk manager, it requested a reboot to complete installation. I rebooted the phone and i got stuck in the bootloop. The fix for the boot loop was to run the initroot bat file again in fastboot mode which i did. My phone got past the Motorola logo to a black screen, when i press the power button it vibrates. So i got in to fastboot mode again, ran the batch file and pressed 0 to uninstall and it came back on but i lost root obviously. So i tried to root it again but i get the blackscreen everytime. I have to uninstall initroot to get the phone to boot. My question is how do i root my phone again? Do i have to do a factory reset? Or should i uninstall magisk and try the root again since the problem started when i tried to install a module( two modules actually Vipersound and Xposed) not sure which is causing it. My Phone works alright but the initroot isn't working, i get a black screen.

PS: My phone is the XT1254, Motorola Droid Turbo (Verizon)

It's not working on my phone either so it might be possible that Motorola may have patched it (just a guess so I may be completely wrong)

You posted a lot of stuff about temp root, magisk and xposed modules.

Yes or no, after using the temp root did you unlock your bootloader with Sunshine? That is ALL this temp root is being posted here for -- unlocking your bootloader. If you are using it for other purposes it is unstable.

Only after bootloader unlock can you then have permanent root, whether with Magisk or SuperSu or whatever you wish.

In this thread, it's a TEMP root meant to just to give Sunshine enough privileges to then unlock the bootloader. After that, you can use something else to get permanent root.

If you are trying to use this temp root as a permanent solution instead of unlocking your bootloader, expect problems.

I know there's another thread in another forum dedicated to this temp root and how there are workaround solutions to try to make this temp root be "perpetual" root by placing it in certain folders, etc. to re-invoke after a reboot. STILL, bootloader unlock is the only real, permanent solution.

Motorola hasn't patched anything on the Droid Turbo since March 2017. So the temp root posted in this thread should work on your phone as intended unless your phone is messed up. In which case, reflash stock firmware and try again.

But NOTE, "work as intended". In this thread, it's a TEMP root meant to just to give Sunshine enough privileges to then unlock the bootloader. After that, you can use something else to get permanent root.

If you are trying to use this temp root as a permanent solution instead of unlocking your bootloader, expect problems.

Yes, I understand this but some people don't have 25 bucks to blow just to unlock your bootloader. And before anyone saids anything about this being the only phone by Motorola with a locked bootloader, Blah blah blah. Yes I realize this and I am just gonna say before buying this phone I did not do any research into the phone besides the specs and what I believe to be the most important aspects of a phone.

Then permanent root (which requires bootloader unlock on Motorola phones) isn't that important to you. You said so yourself. You only researched what was "important".

Why do you think the price on used Droid Turbos are so cheap? Because you have to factor in + $25 for Sunshine. ;)

Go compare prices of Verizon Droid Turbo 2 (Kinzie) and the sibling Moto X Force (Kinzie). The price difference is entirely because Droid Turbo 2 bootloader has never been unlocked, while Moto X Force of course has free bootloader unlock. Those Droid Turbo 2 users don't have an option to buy Sunshine for freedom.

The problem is: $25 USD in United States is cheap but in some country's it's not that cheap.

Sure i am saving money for SunShine, and Motorola DROID TURBO XT1254 is designed for Verizon, but SunShine can s-off HTC phones, and various Motorola DROID TURBO XT1254 is in other country's more cheap than Motorola Moto Maxx XT1225 and XT1250.

If your country the internet purchases of physical products is very difficult because are strictly for internacional shipping, some people does not know how to buy physical products online (or not have a paid accepted payment method).

SunShine should be cheap, but not too much for paid development (for example old devices $10-$15, and new devices $15-$20) and if possible accept more payment methods.

Thanks Jcase and Beaups for SunShine but can be improved on some things.

Edit: This information is just to clarify the situation about SunShine, i have no problems paying $25 USD, but other people have some problems

So
I've been wanting to get into the rooting community for quite some time now, and after some google searching at the right time, I've found this thread, and I guess it's a good time for Droid Turbo users with mcg 24.251-5-5. Problem is, is that I have virtually no experience with rooting, and I'm having some trouble with the lingo in the thread and instructions, and really don't want to screw up my device. Has anyone made a video tutorial or posted screen caps of the process of what to specifically do with this particular root yet, or am I better off learning the lingo in some other thread and just diving in?

I know this is a temp root and No i didn't use sunshine cos i was planning to do that later. I am not trying to use this as a permanent solution. My problem started after i installed the Xposed Module in Magisk. I got stuck in a bootloop even after running the initroot again at boot with my computer so i had to uninstall the exploit. After uninstalling , i tried to temp root it again and this time i got stuck a black screen. I wanted to know if there was a way to get the temp root working again. The solution that came to mind was to factory reset and try it again. A fellow XDA member @Voltz100999 recommended the same and i'm positive it will work once i factory reset but i haven't done that yet cos i'm yet to backup my files. I was just looking for a solution that will prevent me from factory reset. @Voltz100999 also recommended that i use SELinux magisk permissive script to fix the Xposed issue. i think it worked for him/her.

There has been no patch. Try factory resetting your phone and run the initroot again. This is a temproot tho. Don't reboot your phone. if you will tho, follow @autoprime 's post for a solution to that.

i don't know if you've stayed in countries with crazy dollar rate, if you have then you should understand. We did our research, we knew the bootloader was locked, we loved the phone, we searched everywhere for the other versions but nothing and we decided to settle with this. Bottom line is we are saving for Sunshine or lemme speak for myself, i am saving for sunshine and will unlock the bootloader when ready.

You are speaking for yourself. ;)
Read above.

Some people buy phones, THEN find out about rooting and bootloaders. Then complain because they didn't research like they should have?

Until you unlock the bootloader, you are using the temp root at your own risk. In this thread, it's only for unlocking the bootloader. If it crashes your phone, makes your phone bootloop, it's on you.

My friend, you're very right. The turbo droid is too old to be so expensive its unlock ... thanks for your support! (Sorry for my English)

Do I need temp root?....

I have rooted my Galaxy Tab and now would like to root my Turbo. Here is some information then I will ask my question...

Config. Version: XT1254 (Verizon)
Build# MCG24.251-5-5
Version: 6.0.1
Security Patch Level: Jan. 1, 2017

I have been reading up on how to root the Turbo and have a pretty clear understanding of what needs to be done, but I do not have much experience with rooting in general. I have the option "OEM unlocking" in developer options, having this do I need to go through the process of unlocking the bootloader?? I'm hoping that since I have an older security patch (or some other reason) maybe my bootloader is already unlockable without having to go through the extra steps. If it is unlockable simply by enabling that option, can I just install Magisk and Magisk Manager to root my phone and then install TWRP?

This is exactly what you need:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3292684

For any Droid Turbo you have to unlock the bootloader. For any Quark you have to unlock the bootloader. It's just that guide is specific to the Droid Turbo, because Verizon won't let users do that easily.

Yea, that is what I was intending to use to root. I just saw no mention of "OEM unlock" in his post, so I just wanted to make sure I still needed to complete everything in his guide. I thought the bootloader may have been locked down in a later security patch than the one I have.

Maybe with Sunshine exploit you don't need to do that yourself? I mean, probably can't hurt. But maybe Sunshine takes care of that detail.

Droid Turbo bootloader was locked down since the beginning, in November 2014 -- with Kitkat 4.4.4. Only in November 2015 (a year later) with Lollipop firmware, did Sunshine team find an exploit to unlock the bootloader. Since then they've kept up with Verizon "security" patches.

People who were still on older Kitkst firmware had to first update to newer firmware to use Sunshine.
