Thank you!!!

What @TheSt33v said.

This link is to the most recent TWRP with @bhb27 mods for our Quark phones. @bhb27 is our official TWRP maintainer. He's why our TWRP has official status. But he also builds personalized versions which include some features/mods for our phones that other TWRP versions do not have, mods specifically for our Quarks.
Many, many thanks to you. I was able to use sunshine to unlock my bootloader, had a brain fart and got help from jcase which said follow the directions and it worked. I then flashed lineage 14.1 nougat on my phone and it's stable compared to Verizon's version of Marshmallow that was rebooting on me 10 times a day.

After I flashed TWRP on my Droid Turbo and installed lineage, the phone would always boot directly into TWRP. I tried using the dd command I found elsewhere, fastboot commands, adb commands that worked on other phones and nothing fixed it. For 3 days now I have been trying to get my phone to boot directly into lineage and not into TWRP. I would have to reboot from twrp into bootloader, then click start.

Long story short, I was able to find this thread, download the version of TWRP modded version for quark from bhb27. I flashed it on my phone, it booted again into TWRP but I then went to reboot/system and since then it's rebooting into the system everytime. Thank you bhb27 and also ChazzMatt for mentioning it. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Relief

@jcase @autoprime
Long story in short
Was on android 5.1 unlocked with twrp
My brother did factory reset from setting and was getting twrp bootloop
Thought of selling droid turbo so locked bootloader again
All started from there
No boot
Downloaded andorid 6.0.1 cfc and flashed it
Used for 5 hour but every time I reboot it goes to recovery only
Figured it out that every time i have to flash boot image don't know why
Tried for another 6 hour and unlocked again ?
Thank you all
And thanks to xda for platform.

Can I get a pointer to that post #2, please? Still searching but haven't found it yet.

This? :https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73095276&postcount=2
Yes, but use at your own risk. In this Droid Turbo forum that "temp" root is only a temporary step needed to then use the paid Sunshine app to unlock your bootloader. You can then have PERMANENT root and do what you please.

I've seen a lot of complaints from people trying to use that temp root as a "perpetual" temp root. It's an awesome tool that was discovered, and I applaud the dev(s) who made it happen. But in my opinion, it's best used as a stepping stone to bootloader unlock and permanent root.

Sunshine freezing

Hey All. Been a follower here for years and have unlocked/rooted a few droid Turbos with much success. Thanks to all who put their time and effort into these old phones to make them just as good or better than anything a person can get new.

I recently bought my parents a couple new turbo phones. Been trying to get them unlocked with sunshine via the "temp root" method. Sunshine will fire up fine without the "temp root" method present, and of course says no root is detected. But as soon as I temp root (everything seems to run normally, it will even boot loop on restart) sunshine opens up and freezes. Am i missing something? Thanks all for any help

I think you've followed the wrong instructions...

You've installed the temp root and Sunshine, and only those two things? You should NOT have Magisk or anything else on the phone until AFTER bootloader unlock.

You should NOT follow hardly any of the directions in that temp root thread in the other device forum.

Temp root over here in the Droid Turbo forum is ONLY to run very briefly to then enable Sunshine to run to unlock the bootloader.

The only directions you should follow are in the Droid Turbo Bootloader Unlock and Root thread.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3292684

6. !!!DO THIS STEP ONLY IF YOU'RE ON MCG24.251-5-5!!! Follow the instructions here to obtain temporary root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4-play/development/root-autoinitroot-motorola-bootloader-t3639316/.

DO NOT perform the uninstall step, and ignore all steps that mention Magisk or Magisk Manager.

Magisk and other stuff conflict with Sunshine. AFTER you unlock the bootloader, you can then go install TWRP, Magisk, whatever you want. I know that's not what the temp root thread says, but that temp root thread in that other device forum is not for Droid Turbo bootloader unlock. We are only using that temp root as a brief tool to give Sunshine elevated privileges.

ChazzMatt thank you for the reply. I can assure you I tried only those two things. I am on the latest firmware (-5-5) and those are the only things I tried. I never attempted Magisk even once. This is on two different phones, both factory reset. Could it be that they are carrier unlocked? I don't know if that would make a difference?

I can run Temproot successfully at least according to fastboot and the script. The phone reboots. If I run Rootcheck it fails to find root (not sure if that matters) I haven't tried to install any other root Apps yet.

I have downloaded Sunshine before and after temproot and it just opens and locks up.

OK, just wanted to make sure you weren't misled by the different goals/different instructions of the temp root thread in the other forum. Someone else was a few weeks ago, and I had to point out that temp root thread in that other device forum has now morphed into "how to use temp root permanently" thread -- which is not our goal of gaining permanent root with Sunshine bootloader unlock in the Droid Turbo. We're using the temp root as a temporary tool only. :)

I would contact @jcase then and open a support ticket with the Sunshine team.

Hello,
I just face same issue two days ago.
After initroot and open sunshine, sunshine only stuck in white screen.
So i tried to Install Magisk Manager and update the Magisk ( without reboot ). And then Sunshine was working well.

Now, My Droid Turbo has Running Nepo ROM.

Well I'll be...
I had the same issue and looked everywhere for a solution. It was only here in this thread, the last post by my new friend above that solved it. I did same as above (Install Magisk without reboot) and run SunShine again and not it works, it's granted superuser access which I assume Magisk has provided via initroot in some fashion. Strange, but it worked for me. Thanks am03b4!

That is strange, but glad it worked. In the past you couldn't use that temp root + Magisk safely with Sunshine until after you unlocked the bootloader. Magisk interfered with Sunshine somehow.

Sent from my official carrier unlocked LG V30+ US998

Yes well it wasn't without issues that's for sure.

When I finally did run sunshine it got to the end, said the device was unstable, then told me to power cycle and try again. When I did that the phone was hard stuck in the bootloader. Now way out of it.
A cry for help on irc brought jcase to the rescue. Had to reflash the stock rom and repeat the initroot/sunshine procedure a couple times but yes now the phone is unlocked, rooted and it's powering my home internet via a grandfathered verizon udp. Country living has some tech disadvantages. I've been struggling with decent internet service for years here amongst the cornfields in Virginia. This is my 4th "burner" phone to house the udp. Some old cracked screen LG, followed by a cracked screen galaxyS4 which finally couldn't charge the battery anymore, followed by a sweet "brand new" refurb S4 off ebay, and now this CAT 4 Droid Turbo that my son dumped for a new iPhone.
..kudos to jcase, he saved the day :)
