Jcase and others worked really hard and bricked several phones developing Sunshine. GROW UP and pay the money!
NO the thought is ridiculous ppl send more time and money making apps and or games for free to never earn even 1 cent from it.

If they spent 5000$ on bricked phones so what ppl spend like 10 times that just to make free pc games that they don't even want money for.

then go right ahead chief. you are more than welcome to spend hundreds of hours to create an alternate FREE exploit that you'll just give away because you don't want any money for it

oh btw, jcase spent prolly an hour or more via irc and teamviewer helping unlock my droid because things don't always work right the first time. I'm sure you'll be more than willing to spend every night on call supporting your product too.. right?

What is ridiculous is people threaten others without even doing research. I mean, since I started to exploit phones, and its been a long time. I've had OEMs threaten me, I've had government (not our's) try to bully me, and I've had a lot of (s)kids try to threaten me. The (s)kids are the most amusing. It typically takes me a few minutes at the most to know who they are, back in the day I used to call them at home or call their parents and scare the living day lights out of them. Now a days I just post their threats and my responses publicly. For the OEMs and other big guys, EFF stood by me (Maricia Hoffman is awesome!).

That is strange, but glad it worked. In the past you couldn't use that temp root + Magisk safely with Sunshine until after you unlocked the bootloader. Magisk interfered with Sunshine somehow.

Sent from my official carrier unlocked LG V30+ US998
So it probably needs to be posted somewhere. After they use autoinitroot, they HAVE TO install magisk manager BUT CANT NOT update magisk

+1

After receiving help via IRC on their own time I was more than happy to pay the $25 even if I only used the phone for a week or two before getting my Pixel 2. :good:

if you opened up the project I'm sure there would and will be many people interested in helping and contributing time and effort after more than 20 hours research on interest level for devices affected this exploit it seems that a large number hours could been contributed from the community alongside donations to keep costs down would been a viable direction to go I've my self sacrificed more than 50 mainstream locked devices in learning Android developeing I'm new but a quick learner. Apps aren't had to pull source code from btw more than a few good disassembler's out there with plugins available.

Ohh and I'll have to go find the link to the FDA and US COPY RIGHT LAWS THAT STATE A DEVICE PURCHASED LEGALLY CAN AND MY BE MODIFIED BY ITS OWNER BUT NOT 3RD PARTY. so had the project stay open in the community as a guide for a semi manual exploit it would be harder anyone to say you did anything illegal.

Details of the vuln have been public for years, and dozens and dozens of people have threatened to hack us to make it free, even more have complained, yet no one has contributed to making a free one based on our write up. These skids seem to think I'm a fool and will fall to threats.

For your information, besides beekeeping my hobby is writing custom obfsucators, and exploiting reverse engineering tools. I love to make disassemblers do my bidding, and to send other reverse engineers down rabbit holes.

You can't pull source code from sunshine, there exist no decompiler that will produce reliable output from SunShine. Disassemblers do not produce source code, and yes no disassembler will produce accurate assembly of sunshine. You are trying to play in my arena, home town always has the advantage. You seem to be missing facts from the past, SunShine partially exists because of people with attitudes like your's. Why don't you get off your rear, read that white paper, and just reimplement it? It is going to take you a long time even with full details, but it will still take you a lot less time than reversing sunshine.

50 phones, that is cute. I don't believe you, but I've posted pictures of my cases of bricked phones before. Yes cases, as in boxes and boxes of them.

Lol. FDA ..... Food and Drug Administration. We are a registered apiary in full compliance with the FDA, our food products are properly processed and labeled, but I'm not sure what that has to do with SunShine.

Please dont pretend to be an attorney here, you are already pretending to be a hacker. I'm well aware of our legal stance, we are in the clear.

kid, I've released more free and open source android exploitation material in the last seven years, than I'm going to guess any other single person. I haven't seen anything from you but empty threats, and whining. Poo or get off the pot. Hack the app and release it if you think you are some "l337 h4x0r", or hush

Combined Development Agency has nothing to do with phones.

"Know one"

Jcase, read your tweet, are you keeping working on sunshine or is the team moving on without you?

My next phone is a Verizon pixel 2 i think, but the chances of my wife's next phone being an HTC again is highly likely.

I will continue with SunShine, and perhaps one or two other projects, but otherwise I've left the cellular field. Life is too short, gunna do some things I still enjoy instead.

Don't blame you. I am very thankful for my job and I do enjoy it. But if I could retire tomorrow? I would retire.

enjoy the ride.

My turbo appears to take the temproot and I am able to revert.
However, while on temproot any app that requires root freezes, including sunshine. Root checkers freeze as well.
Have the mcg24.251-5-5, Android 6.0.1 quark

This appeared to work. apps requiring root were asking for permission and i was able to grant, however i rebooted into fastbbot and ran autoinit again to boot and now am recieving this in boot logs:
hab check failed for boot
failed to verify hab image boot
failed to validate root image: ret-1
tried all the options in recovery and it just goes to fastboot screen
