Unfortunately nothing is ever as easy as it seems. While Kingroot did get me root which I was able to transfer to SuperSU, motoapocalypse hangs and thus I cannot unlock bootloader. Any last suggestions before I call it quits for the day?

you cannot lock bootloader if kernel date is 03 June 2014 or newer

Themes

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread going as the ROM changed. I too used Kingroot and found it simple and fast to root the 183.46.15 July 29,2014 kernel. I release that custom ROM is impossible but is there any way to add Themes to my razr m?

Happy New YEAR! So I have a weird situation that enabled me to gain root while still on the latest firmware (AUG 25-2014)

Was this supposed to happen? For some reason I wasn't able to gain root the first few times I did followed the directions. I discovered that I didn't have a recovery so factory resetting with the phone off was a no go.

The phone never prompted me to towel root so I did it on my own and gained root.
Now, I factory reset the phone with the newly installed recovery that I got from fastboot...and now lost root again lol:good:

Ok I didn't try that only because I didn't see the reply that quickly so...
I tried duplicating what I had done before.

I watched the video and for some reason it ALWAYS fails (for me) trying to install the CVE-2014 correctly. The video guy simply exits the DOS prompt and runs the .bat file with the 2nd time being successful...whereas when I run it again it says that I already have tried and failed....

So What I did was carried on acting as though it worked. and upon the 2nd reboot
I opened up Towel root, exited airplane mode and used wifi to root successfully my Luge. What I noticed was that the last reboot I checked the date of the build:

It was May 25th 2014....When I rebooted one last time...it was back to AUG 25th 2014!

I've run Titanium BU and it works, SU binary updated fine. I don't get it.
I realize that with a locked bootloader..I cannot flash custom roms/recovery.

Can I run hotspot or some other way to use it without incurring a charge?:silly:

First On Phone: Go To Settings>about phone>Kernel Version
If kernel is before June 3, 2014 (like May X 2014) root with Towel Root
If kernel is after June 3, 2014 (like 29 July 2014) root with Hydrogen Peroxide (this method)

Note: If your device has 182.45.15, you likely need to flash 183.45.15 firmware with rsd lite.

Root Info
This method was created by HydrogenXS and posted @ http://4pda.ru/

It Uses combination of several hacks giefroot, Towelroot, flashing an older Kernel over the Stock recovery...

This does not unlock the bootloader,
there is no practical way to unlock the bootloader once the kernel /bootloader is newer than June 3, 2014 (July 29)
There is no custom Recovery without an Unlocked Bootloader, no custom Recovery, no Custom Roms
So stop asking

If you have a XT926 see ROOT for Droid Razr HD XT926- 183.46.15 w/Kernel newer than June 3, 2014

Changelog
15 March 2015; Added: If you have a XT926 on 183.46.15 see Post #80
and Only Flash XT907 firmware on a XT907
23 March 2015: added ROOT for Droid Razr HD XT926- 183.46.15 w/Kernel newer than June 3, 2014
30 March 2015; Added: (Old Kernel is flashed over Stock Recovery, Recovery will no longer work until last step) and
If Rooting fails try flashing firmware with RSD Lite and/or Perform a Factory Data Reset (Device Powered Off) - DROID RAZR M by MOTOROLA
31 March 2015: Added: There is no custom Recovery without an Unlocked Bootloader, no custom Recovery, no Custom Roms
06 April 2015: Added download Mirrors
22 May 2015: Edited Download Mirrors
28 May 2015: Added list tags to Mirror links
17 June 2015: Created new thread
Is this a read only root or a proper root?

Yes, I figured it out, motofirmware.center lost their server a few weeks ago, and that file had not been re-uploaded but I found another mirror.
