SGP311 4.2.2 [ROOTED] - CONFIRMED!!!

1. Starting point: Stock ROM 10.1.C.0.370
2. Rooted device using DooMLoRD Easy-Rooting-Toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333566)
3. Installed SuperSU into /system - this took several attempts
4. Applied Sony update via OTA 10.3.1.C.0.136
5. Device has now 4.2.2 ROOTED!!! :)

And I also made a backup of my TA partition after step 2, just in case ;)
1 & 2 OK
SuperSU and Pro installed
SuperUser in system/apps
In SuperSU settings, tapped survival mode and convert to system app
SuperUser disappeared from system/apps, and SuperSU not there either
Is there something else I should be doing?

As soon as the option "Install SuperSU into /system" is grayed out in the settings, point 3 is done. Nothing else needed.

SuperSU root survival mode

Hmm... interesting. I had tried several times to install SuperSU into system, but each time the tablet rebooted, after which the option remained available. Also SuperSU didn't appear in system/apps. So I wasn't convinced that it had worked (and didn't know how to confirm this). Hence my question. However, in the meantime I decided to take a chance and install the OTA update, which by that time was being offered. Lo and behold,I still had root after the install completed. Moreover the SuperSU install to system option was still ungreyed.
The only other thing I had done was to tick the SuperSU root survival box, so perhaps this is all that is necessary. The changelogfor the latest version, 1.55, does say that this has been improved.
Finally, since seeing your response I decided to have another go at installing SuperSU to system, and this time it worked as expected. SuperSU.apk appeared in system/apps but disappeared from Settings/apps, but a reboot got it back.
Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.

Followed all steps and the OTA wiped out root still.

Hmmm… I assume the tricky part is step 3. Here is at least how I did it:
3.1. Open SuperSU
3.2. Go to “Settings” and look for option “Install SuperSU into /system”
3.3. Click on it and wait until the tablet reboots
3.4. Repeat the procedure again and check if “Install SuperSU into /system” is grayed out

When I tried it didn’t work at first. The tablet would simply reboot and nothing would change. I had to the repeat the steps about four times and suddenly it was there.

I’m really sorry it didn’t work for you. Maybe there are more parameters involved that I’m unaware of… :(

Yeah I'm not quite sure what the difference is yet. There has to be something. So no setting SuperSu to survival mode? I've seen a few people mention that.

It was an "either / or".
Either make SuperSu a system app, or select survival mode.

The reason both options are mentioned is because you need the paid version for survival mode (though I believe there's a way round that).

Ahhh ok gotcha. Well setting it as a system app worked.

No, I don't have the Pro version. There's no "Survival Mode" in my settings...
Ok, so I do have one difference. I flashed 10.1.C.0.344 and rooted instead of rooting from 10.1.C.0.370. Could be the difference maybe? Coming from 10.1.C.0.344 to 10.3.1.C.0.136?

I mentioned it in the other root thread but if you are unlocked, install a CM10 boot.img flash the latest SuperSu.zip on 136, then use flashtool to reflash only the kernel.sin reboot and your 136 is rooted.

this works for me, after several try:

SGP321 "ONLY"- LTE 16GB - 4.2.2 [ROOTED] :=)
1) flash SGP321_10.1.1.A.1.307_Unbranded.tft
2) root with DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17_perf-event-exploit
3) save root with Voodoo OTA RootKeeper v2.0.3
4) get SuperSU as an system app
4) get the new firmware over ota!
5) Tablet with new firmware "4.2.2" and root access is the outcome :) :)
