is it working on SGP312 32gb wi-fi only version. i asked because this does not have a dialer that the method needs?

by the way, the build no.10.1.C.0.344

thanks
No models of this tablet have the dialer app, but the service menu is displayed by the script.
Posts in the Q forum show how to get to it manually.

Root instructions for SGP312 users (US WiFi only version)

Mirroring my post from another thread. Here are the steps, hope it helps someone:

1. Unlock bootloader using the key from Sony: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
2. Use the root toolkit by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1886460
3. Install kernel with CWM for SGP312 from this thread (at this point the installed superuser denies permission to all apps)
4. Get flashable CWM superuser from here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/sup.../superuser.zip (thanks Koush!)
5. Boot into CWM recovery and flash CWM superuser
6. Run fix permissions in CWM
7. Reboot

All done

why did you unlock your bootloader? you simply have to use the rooting toolkit by bin4ry and youre done. If you use the toolkit there´s no need for flashing the root.zip.

congratulations you have now voided your warranty without any use :D

but trust me you will flash a custom kernel when one is available later so you will need it tough

101.C.0.344 is a firmware for Wi-Fi version. 10.1.1.A.1.253 is a firmware for LTE version of tablet. So rooting will not work.
I have just taken delivery of the UK LTE version SGP321 running build .253 - is an option to revert to a previous build, root that and then update to .253 OTA ?

Here I have a European (Dutch) SGP311 16Gb running 10.1.C.0.344 and the Root Many Android script by Bin4ry did not work, (none of the options, r/w error)
but the script by DooMLoRD (EasyRootingToolkit XPERIA-Z) did work! I now have root access.

Edit: I was wrong: the second script does complete - the included superuser app confirms root but other superuser apps like superSU and the one from Clockworkmod don't (as well as Root checker). I also cannot update the kernel so something is not right.

Edit 2: Other apps like ES startup manager and LBE security master that require root etc run fine. Rooted for 50%?

I have the US 16 gig, wifi only model. Tried to get root yesterday with the toolkit, option 3. Had 1 error in the install, superuser denied everything as reported in other posts so was a no go.
Tried again this am on another PC, (both win 7) - go it to work!
Fully rooted, titanium backup and ad blockers installed. Only difference was the second PC did not have the sony connect software.
I did not unlock the bootloader or flash a custom recovery-- wanted the option to return it if not happy with machine.
