Yup.

Info is starting to spread now that this works .
Need to translate that bat file before the hordes descend clamouring to know what to do.

Not at computer for while but I'll see what I can do later unless a native speaker can translate it all.

DooMLoRD more in a "future" point of view, for the ones that right now can unlock the bootloader (Bootloader unlock: yes), what do you think is better/more convenient? This method or the unlock BL & root ?

Hope you can get my question, my english in this moment is not at the top :D

personally i prefer unlocked bootloader as it gives me the flexibility to work on a LOT of things like kernel, recovery, etc..

already translated the bat file...

please find attached the repacked version with the English translation...

All credits for the translation go to my friend tkymgr

i am just posting this on his behalf... i personally havent tried this method... if someone wants to create a separate thread for this, go ahead but please keep credits intact of the original authors and tkymgr...

Thanks for the quick answer :good:

Anyway for what I got with this root method - right now - you can't do much: you cannot install a custom rom since you cannot install a recovery, that now is avaiable only with your kernel, right?

By the way... from another thread "I have downloaded all necessary stuff but I read some reports about bugs on the Japanese blogpost. (not booting and NFC problem, as far as I understand)"
Any info about this? Could be a deal-breaker :D

well thats the interesting bit...

we can get a recovery working for locked bootloader devices, using some hacks... i am sure someone will be working on it. i know that tkymgr is working on it for the Japanese version using my recovery... actually my exams are coming up in a week or so, i am kind of trying to study :p

about flashing kernel part... i think it might be possible but not sure if we can write to the boot partition on the Xperia Z without unlocking bootloader... incase someone is interested just dd my advanced stock kernel onto the boot partition (/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot)

Had unlocked my bootloader and tried to update my Xperia Z via the Sony Companion on my PC to version (from .350 to .434).

Got the following message:

Problem: The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated.
Details: Sony Update Engine Failure (error 2003)

Anyone knows how to overcome this?

Thanks,

Chester

I have to downgrade from 434 to 350 before using this method of root or does it could work?
In case of problem I'll have to flash a stock firmware thanks to flashtool, right?

Use EMMA by Sony or download a .434 FTF and flash it with flashtool.

Unlocked bootloaders prevent updates by PC Companion or SUS/SEUS. EMMA has been created for unlocked devices. This is well documented, in case you plan on complaining about it, you should have done your homework and research stuff before doing it. If youre ok with the situation, then never mind this comment.

I can't manage to root my device by flashing the flashable zip in 2nd post. In recovery it says successful but I can't seems to find my SuperSU and busybox in app drawer. What's wrong? Is that any alternative method to determine whether my device is rooted or not?

    [ Information ]

so once the bootloader is unlocked its generally very easy to root but there were numerous issues where rooting wasnt working even using insecure kernel

so i used the ramdisk of CF-Auto-Root for the Nexus 4, modified it a bit for working on the Xperia Z and thats it... Root achieved!

all of the testing was done remotely (using teamviewer)... many thanks to the user who willing helped out with the testing!

Want to root without unlocking bootloader? now you can! thanks to goroh_kun! check out THIS thread!

    [ Requirements ]

    • Firmware Version: 10.1.A.1.350

    • we tested on C6603 and C6602

    • unlocked bootloader

    • fastboot files (are there in the unlock bootloader thread)

    [ How to Root ]

    1. reboot into bootloader

    2. flash my modded CF-Auto-Root Kernel,
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_CF-Auto-Root-ported_FW-350.img

    3. reboot from fastboot
      Code:
      fastboot reboot

    4. the device will now start booting and u will get indication on screen saying (Device will reboot in 10 seconds)

    5. after CF-Auto-Root reboots device once, disconnect USB cable and do hard power off (3 vibrations)
[FYI: disconnect usb cable.. u have to do hard power off "press power button and keep VOLUME UP key pressed for 15 seconds"]

    6. connect device in fastboot mode and flash stock kernel
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_insecure_FW-350.img

    7. now reboot device and the device will start booting into OS
      Code:
      fastboot reboot

    8. you should now Download Busybox Installer from Market and install it at /system/xbin/

    9. thats it! device is now completely rooted!

    Alternate Method using Recovery

Since we now have Recovery fully working its a lot easier to root the device. I have made a simpler package for easier rooting and installing busybox.

    Steps:

    1. Download the: SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip and save it on phone (external sdcard)

    2. Just flash any kernel which contains recovery (for stock based ROM) [e.g.: Advanced Stock Kernel]

    3. Boot into recovery and flash that file "SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip"

    4. now reboot and the firmware will be fully rooted with SuperSU and Busybox installed!!!

Thank You very much for your work.
What have to happen, that we can have root without unlocking the bootloader?

well u will have to wait for some exploit to be found which will work on locked bootloader...

i had tested the most used exploits on the Xperia Z but none of them worked...
