Recovery mount system problem cracked :D

C69XX_14.3.A.0.681.patch.zip (9.15MB)

This should at least make the recoveries work again, after which you can flash the latest XZDualRecovery Z Ultra version: 2.7.99.
Thanks, I linked your post to the OP so more people can try if they want.

@fnf can u plz create a flashable file C6802 so that it can used to have a rooted version of Kitkat
ftf files has already been posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51379706&postcount=47

thank you :)
I added the zip and FTF to Mega & GDrive, have fun :) .

Hi @[NUT], the patch fails to flash (I just get a red "failed" msg when trying). Is this z1 specific or should work here too? Ta...

@fnf has ok'd me to post my deodexed build of the wonderful @[NUT] / @fnf 681 6833 rom. Unfortunately I (currently) have to grant permission to users wanting to download from my Google drive - mirror much appreciated if anyone is able.

I personally have only flashed this over the top of an existing 4.4.2 rooted base (ub), I am also running the patched @jackie099 kernel AND @[NUT] dual recovery.

Thx devs for the base and method (weird tarball gzipp of system - fun on Windows).

These are flashable zip file and FTF pairs for the latest KitKat firmware 14.3.A.0.681 for C6833/C6806/C6802 based on [NUT]'s modifications. I couldn't wait for his firmware so decided to make it :) .

The upgrade instructions are exactly the same as in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631768 . You only need to use the flashable zip and FTF files in this thread instead. In a nutshell:
  • Install recovery (either via a root exploit or unlocking the bootloader). Note: unlocking the bootloader will typically result in data loss, you are advised to use the root exploit on the older firmware instead of touching the bootloader.
  • Enter recovery and flash Sony Xperia Z Ultra Europe LTE_14.3.A.0.681_flashable.zip
  • Power off the device and enter flash mode
  • Flash Sony Xperia Z Ultra Europe LTE_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf using FlashTool (0.9.15.0 or later, older versions won't work)

These instructions are relatively safe and you can always downgrade using the other flashable zip/FTF if you so wish.

Lots of credits go to NUT & co. for making the original flashable zip!.

Notes:
- Some people run into a bug that makes camera non-functional. If you have this bug you can try flashing zip/stripped FTF from another region (e.g., US) instead.
- If you have issues remounting /system in TWRP you can try @[NUT]'s patch for the recovery here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51378028&postcount=88 . It can be flashed after you flash the flashable zip with adb sideload recoverypatch.zip inside the package on Linux or running install.bat on Windows.

+1 :good:
plz make a flashable zip so that we can have root without unlocking bootloader
@fnf plz make them for us:cool:
I thought that someone else already did it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712899 . I made one for me but was a bit reluctant to reupload for all the different variants due to the camera issue.

The rooted version that I'm using is C6833_14.3.A.0.757_EUR LTE.ftf . If you find it useful then let me know, I'll upload it.

Fnf,

Big thanks for your work and time put into this. I"m using this on my 6806 US unbranded and it worked fine. The only one I could find allowing me to have locked bootloader with root and kitkat.

Can you make similar files for the latest FTF 757 US. You can find the ftf in the repository thread. Thank you so much.

Stylus-lag

Hi!
I went through the downgrade-root-upgrad-process serveral times. Everything works fine except one very annoying thing: the stylus-input gets laggy a short time after boot. Finger is perfekt but stylus is not.

(I already asked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52580564)

First I thought it has something to do with apps, but I couldn't find a guilty one. This behavior is found everywhere except actual stock rom. And that's unusable for several other reasons...

Does anyone have a clue?
