I have the samest Problem, that the TouchPal was stopped. Is not a big Problem. I have look to the TouchPal.apk. The APK was deletet. I dont now why.
I have download an older Version of YB1-X90L ROM (Update) and go into the ZIP and look for the TouchPal.apk. I have extract/copy this this APK and install new.
All Problem´s loose. The Touchpal now are running perfectly.

This for the record, but it might help others. Tried and failed yesterday to root YB using the latest version of Magisk, v.10.2. Tried again today using the version supplied by danjac, v7. This succeeded. I have YB1 X90F, which might or might not be relevant.

As for TouchPal, I simply disabled it. Now that I have root, I will uninstall it and lots of other junk.

Once again, thank you danjac for providing us with the tools to allow us take control of the YB.

I have the Chinese version of the Yoga Book which did not come with Touchpal so I did not see this problem. I use SwiftKey for predictions and autocorrect with the Halo keyboard.

TouchPal vs Swiftkey

@liguangming1981

Hallo, and thank you dear liguangming1981, for your Tip.

I have for a Test, deinstall Touchpal and install Swiftkey. It look´s very good, i think for in to the Future it is better as Touchpal.
Into the Moment it is my Favorit, but i will look for any Time to Testing Swiftkey.

MfG Mister Papillon

PS: Sorry and excuse me for my not so good English .

latest version of magisk (v.10.2.) does work. if you use the newest version to gain root, you don't have to install 2.phh-supersu-magisk-r259.zip afterwards because it's already included in the newest version.
just reboot after installing magiskv.10.2.zip and install the phh's superuser from playstore.

if you use magisk manager and update to latest version, root will break.
see OP for details

Does Magisk 11.1 work? It seems like that is the newest version.

Has anyone else used any kind of local back up solutions prior to unlocking to eb able to restore later? I will root it tomorrow I hthink, i want to be able to do as less work as I can after recovery.

I used the adb backup from the phone to the desktop. If you google for adb backup you will find samples.
The backup is not perfect but 90 percent of the apps have been restored successfully and also wifi passwords are back.

Ok this process worked for me. I used 10.2. I think it was easy for me because I am a Linux user. The whole process is 5 mins (without the back up stuff). @reiter123 s adb backup method works, at least better than nothing, some apps did not really brought their settings but again it is much easier than setting things up again.

I recommend going root to any non root user really.

I normally root all my Android devices, except my TV, my shield Android TV and my Yoga Book. I don't see a reason to do it. Can you tell why it's recommendable? I normally do to remove bloat software or to install other os.

Being able to back up the rom/system and apps with settings properly. I do not use accounts

I already got boot loops 2 times with this device both after upgrades, so having a proper back up was helpful to revert to a working state.
