With all this root detecting system, and the upgrades of Android... Is it a plus to root any more?

I am debating that now, only thing I used it for anymore is to truly enable dark mode on my HTC U11 running rr 7 (Android pie)

That really depends on what you want to do with root. I personally think it's worth it, but others have stopped doing it.
