I can confirm the very easy method on post # 2 worked excellent for me. THANK YOU @Walter.White

I was rooted on NJ5 rom.... I used odin v3.10 to flash back to nc2. Towel rooted nc2, then installed supersu, busybox, safestrap... rebooted to safestrap, wiped everything except micro sd, installed your file... waited about 8 long minutes for it to boot up (was on white att logo screen a looong time).

Thanks again for making this work so well.

Quick note - would it be worth mentioning in the VERY EASY instruction which roms will work with this VERY EASY process? I read through every page of this thread and found someone on about page 65 who said it worked from nc2... otherwise it's not quite clear which other versions it might work with.

YOU ARE A ROCK STAR! THANK YOU. My NOTE 3 feels like a new machine and I was already loving it before...

Yes, you have replaced it with the "other partitions......etc" tar file which is what those things I mentioned.
They're the bootloader and modem and the CSC att files, I think.

Nope, still on NC2 Modem. I haven't had to do the OC1 flash via Odin but I just used Carl's OC1 Kernel flash to boot.
I booted to SS
Flashed Alliance
Flashed other stuff
Flashed Carl's OC1 kernel to boot
Wiped twice and walk
Running 5.0.

I was already running NC2 that was rooted, BB and SS.

I have to say, that with either the totally stock, or the stock/rooted ROMs. I'm actually seeing much worse battery life than I was seeing on NC2, or the Note 4 port. Same set up, had plenty of 'burn in time'. Even set to Power Saving, not much help. I'll keep running it, see if anything changes

WiFi hotspot

I gave my father an unlocked AT&T note 3 with 4.4.2 and he is using it with tmo. I had to root it and install xposed so he can use the WiFi hotspot to connect his tablet. Does the new lollipop update behave the same in terms of cannot tether on other network without rooted?

Most of these question can be answered by simply trying them first instead of waiting for others to do the same test you yourselves can do just want to throw that out there

Mine works but I'm on the Rooted version

It seems a bit harsh suggesting that he go thru the process of installing a new ROM just to see if one feature works

Maybe if I quoted someone it was in general. Sometimes people are way to sensitive we are all adults and again some of these questions can be self answered by trying it first.

as for his direct question well xposed doesn't work on lollipop so if you rely on a module to tether then no stay on 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 where xposed still works for.

Good point, I read the 2 post sequentially, and made the assumption you were commenting on his post.
Sorry, my mistake

Could anyone kindly make a tutorial on exactly how to boot safestrap recovery from OC1 lollipop stock? I have all the files, nc2 flasher, busybox installed and the required zip files. Haven't been able to get it to work. ? I miss having working SS. I've done a lot of searching thru different threads. I'm getting a lot of conflicting info. If anyone wants to forward the process to me I'd gladly make a "how to" thread. Thanks for any help guys.

Look at post #2. It clearly tells you exactly how it works.

OC1 Stock Rooted Very Easy Procedure
1. Download this .zip and save it on external sd:- Here
2. Reboot into Safestrap.
3. Wipe everything expect external-sd.
4. Flash the .zip you download above called, "SM-N900A_OC1_Lollipop_Rooted_Rom.zip"
5. Reboot.
6. Enjoy Rooted Lollipop :)

To access Safestrap (only works if you followed "Very Easy Procedure"
1. Bring up Power Menu.
2. And select "Safestrap Recovery" from the Reboot Menu.
3. Flash/Backup anything you need to do in SS.
4. Once you are done with that....
5. Flash the file called "SM-N900A_OC1_Kernel_Safestrap_Installer.zip" which is located under /sdcard/OC1_Kernel/

Sorry for pasting the whole post. But the above set of instructions do not work for me. I can't boot into safestrap. Both of those instructions start with " boot into safestrap", which I can not do. Lol that's the point of my post. Does SS only work if you install lollipop a certain way?

first odin install the NC2 kernel, then when phone boots, if you do not see the 10 second safestrap screen then you some how lost your safestrap recovery partition

you will have to start over with NC2 firmware and then towel root, busybox and then safestrap apk
1. NC2 Firmware
2. Root with Towel Root
3. Install BusyBox
4. Install SafeStrap
