Nobody had unlocked warning press power continue, volume up restore bla bla ? I press all and boots normally.. please wanna root elate
ignore what it says on the phone

this is from the first post
Notes on booting up the phone (from power off)
Bootloader (fastboot) = power + volume down + USB hooked to pc
eRecovery = power + volume up + USB hooked to PC
TWRP = power + volume up
Also in the first post
make sure you put TWRP.img in the same folder as fastboot
from the bootloader screen and phone still plugged into the pc
open command prompt from the fastboot folder
fastboot devices #make sure computer adb/fastboot sees your device
fastboot flash recovery twrp_xt2_v3.img

Tip you can also type fastboot flash recovery (<-and a space) and drag your twrp.img into the command window to flash it

Well thanks to @goesham2 we now have the Stock dload update
hxxps://easy-firmware.com/home/browse/category/id/27287/

I'll mirror the files on my AFH Here ->> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=962339331459002818

Warning: This will totally wipe your phone. Backup anything on the phone you want to keep first.
This will also relock the bootloader and remove the warning screens at bootup !

instructions are in the download but in short you just

1.unzip the files to your PC and copy the dload folder to the root of the ext_sdcard
(using 7zip open > TOR-A2_C153B120_Firmware_United States_AT&T_Android 7.0_EMUI 5.1_05014LTK.zip\Software\SDupdate_Package.tar.gz\SDupdate_Package.tar\dload)

1b.If you have TWRP you'll have to flash stock recovery to your phone for the update to work

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img or from TWRP / Install / Install Image / recovery.img / Recovery

2.from the phone dialer *#*#2846579#*#* -> ProjectMenu -> Software Upgrade -> SDCard Upgrade-> OK

3.EMUI should come up and restore your phone to Stock

What Rom are you trying to install?

Hi all. I got my unlock code last night, did the flash/root procedure, and flashed the debloated ROM. It all seems to work well, save for one problem: tethering.

Tethering seems to activate from the settings menu, but when I connect my laptop for testing, it reports that there's no internet. I read through the forum already and tried to find com.huawei.entitlement to freeze, but it doesn't seem to be running on the debloated ROM. As I unlocked the phone specifically to enable hotspot, it's kind of frustrating. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

I renamed the AttEntitlement.apk
you can use a root browser and find it here
Elate Custom Rom > \data\hw_init\version\special_cust\H1711z\cricket\us\app\AttEntitlement\AttEntitlement.ap_

Can you be a bit more specific what I should do? Do I install it? Freeze it?

Also, I'm having trouble finding that directory. I'm using FX and opening System (root), then \data, but don't see \hw_init anywhere.

From FX
enter system (root) it has a # on the icon
then \data\hw_init\version\special_cust\H1711z\cricket\us\app\AttEntitlement\AttEntitlement.ap_

when you get to AttEntitlement.ap_ change it to AttEntitlement.apk

Well, there's my first problem: when I navigate to root\data\, hw_init is nowhere to be seen. See attached screenshot.

Any idea what's going on here?

Well if you format data in TWRP it deletes it. But my Rom flashes it back

So, reflash the ROM, I guess?

The data partition is encrypted so flashing the Rom without formatting it first will fail

So you'll need to boot to TWRP
Choose wipe format data type yes
Reboot recovery
Flash CleanRom reboot system

Your phone will be wiped except ext_sd

Ugh... Just when I have everything reinstalled.

Just to be clear: I just change the file name so that *.ap_ is *.apk, but do I then install it or not? And will this give me access to tethering for free, or just give me the usual message from Cricket to buy a hotspot subscription? My goal in all this is free tethering.

Theirs nothing to install
No it will not enable free tethering

you can try this > https://techtrickz.com/how-to/how-to-enableunlock-tethering-on-android-7-0-nougat/

Thanks for all the hard work. Just got an Elate today and rooted it with your CleanRom. Also went through and removed the cricket animation and the sound. It then defaulted to an AT&T sound which I then found and renamed which left me with yet another sound which was what I assume to be the actual huawei sound.

I would have liked to see basically every app removed from the CleanRom even the ones you added, maybe have them able to be uninstalled as I would know where to get them if I needed them later but that is just being picky. I am happy how everything has turned out. Installed XDA labs and will look at some modules.

If only we could find where the boot screen is that shows up that ugly message about the device not being safe when you first turn it on. I know Motorola has a similar one and people have made a file to overwrite. I looked through the same area as the motorola boot logo goes and the only thing I see that possibly could be similar is a file named "splash2". But I lack the ability to understand and interpret those files so I digress. Besides that one screen on starting up and the carrier name on the top left, I am very happy with this phone. Switched to Cricket from Sprint on an LG G5 and im not looking back!
