Rooting confusion

Hey all,

Just picked up a Verizon HTC One Max and would like to root it so I can use AdFree and Root Explorer. Maybe load Cyanogen sometime in the future but not a priority right now. I noticed very little separation of posts, Sprint, VZW, ATT, etc., and I would like to make sure I have the correct and simplest way for my Verizon device.

Firewater S-off

Also, where can I download the latest HTC One Max drivers?

Thanks in advance for your help.

From what I remember seeing, not unlockable via htcdev, which is needed for S-OFF.

From rumrunner site
Unlock your bootloader (devices that are blocked by htcdev only, e.g. Verizon HTC One)

Edit: Looks like it should work, according to site and other users, but via htcdev is a nogo

As far as i know, Verizon does not allow unlocking of the MAX via HTCDev. Firewater requires unlocked/temp rooted device to S-Off. You should look at rumrunner - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525375

Drivers - first link on Google - https://www.google.com/search?q=htc+drivers+&oq=htc+drivers

Looks like outta luck for now till verizon opens up the bootloader to htcdev
Not true. Rumrunner does both s-off and unlock in one shot on vzw. Did mine that way. To be honest, its even better this way as you aren't broadcasting to HTC that you are modifying the phones software.

To be perfectly clear again...rumrunner requires nothing other than a stock os phone on vzw. Have done two vzw maxx's this way.

I think you: 1) need to check what you quoted and 2) need to reread what you meant to quote.
No. Mine is correct. One post was already corrected. Yours has not (yet).

Your post is still bad info bud....please edit so we have this op getting good info.
@pradeepv had it right because he mentioned both rumrunner and firewater.

Vzw maxx only needs stock rom to s-off at this time. No need for HTC Dev unlock.

I quoted pradeep which is the second post and is entirely accurate. I am on verizon and worked with beaups to finalize rumrunner to get it working on the verizon model. That is still currently the best and easiest.

The way its phrased explains why the op is confused.

Op simply needs to run rumrunner.

Beaups has it spelled out like this on rumrunners page

Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked or rooted*unless using rumrunner with a device blocked by htcdev (e.g. m7wlv)

So no temp root or unlock required on op's part prior to running rumrunner.

Use rumrunner s-off unless your One Max is running Hboot 2.47... If it is, use firewater tool. Will s-off and unlock in one fell swoop.

Try this link for HTC Drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2089508

So three days later you swapped out to the regular one which currently isn't rootable. I came from that phone to the maxx and don't miss it. Size work better for you ?
