Rotate my phone and voicemail playback pauses

I have a Pixel XL and when I try to listen to my GoogleVoice voicemails the phone will pause any message if I rotate the phone. It makes it difficult to listen to messages as I have to keep the phone vertical, it it rotates it will pause any message. Is there setting that is causing this issue, couldn't find out anything using Google search.
