rock, the Atrix doesn't really have a battery cover, it has a "rear case" half. And it is not at all obvious but that only fits securely when it is put on in exactly one way only, you sort of have to put it on at the bottom, wok your way up both sides, and then snap the top closed. When done properly it fits very nicely. When done hastily or from the wrong angle, it never seats properly. It isn't at all obvious.

It would be a very odd phone if they added a rubber coating to the back, but not the sides or the entire case. And it would be a thicker phone. I'd suggest you look at the Otterbox Defender, their middle-grade case for this phone. A nice elastomer shell for the whole phone with a hard polycarbonate outer shell. Makes for a grip that feels much better than the naked phone, and substantial protection. Doesn't pick up pocket lint the way a lot of the cheap "rubber" skins do.

Or you can take off the rear case and spray it with "bumper paint". That's a black vinyl rubber spray paint for auto bumpers, a $5 can will "rubberize" all sort of things.

hi thanks i have seen that store but i dont see the rubber battery cover. in stead they have a rubber case. i dont think that is the same as the rubber battery cover is it?

http://cnn.cn/shop/motorola-mb860-atrix-blue-silicone-case-p-11666.html

Motorola MB860 Atrix 4G OEM Blue silicone case

edit: my bad ok sorry have read a bit more of the thread now. quick question though does it come with the speaker grill or do i need to buy it separately?

hmm having read nearly all this thread this cover doesnt seem to be the fabled holy grail i was seeking. oh well back to the shop to trade the shiny pile of stinking pony for a good ol rugged solid defy. weird how one company can make two phones that are so poles apart in terms of the build quality. guess thats motorola for you. oh well live and learn.

Try the Rearth Ringke case. It is not just a batttery cover, BUT it is very thin so you won't notice it there plus it gives you your desired feel without dust.

i bought the pink case with the blue since the green one is out of stock. i was curious if the pink one has a different feel like the green. the pink is matted so its not that bad. it does feel different from the blue case though. the pink case feels more like plastic and doesnt have the furry feel of the blue case. is this how the green one feels compared to the blue? i like the blue one a lot better though, the furry feel adds more grip. the pink one almost feels too blue compared to the blue one it reminds me of the Seidio Surface for my captivate.

mate thanks a million. you just might have saved my atrix from the second hand shop. i have been thinking aboiut just getting some sort of thin ruber stick on strips or something like that but the bumper paint would be just the ticket.

i am in the uk but i guess bumper paint is bumper paint wherever you are. so is this the sort of stuff you are talking about? let me know asap cos i will go and buy it tomorrow if it is

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_173960_langId_-1_categoryId_165495

is there anything else similar that will do the job of making the plastic more grippy?

Hi all,

I am looking for a replacement back/battery cover for the Atrix, the OEM one is very slippery. Preferably all black, slightly rubberized. I am not looking to get a case (ie. something that wraps over the cover, like this Incipio), I want to replace the entire cover so it doesn't add any thickness. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sorry, but we have posted everything there is to know already on the official/oem moto part in this thread. Cnn.cn sells them. We also have a couple youtube reviews posted on this thread.

Thanks jjwatmyself,

Cnn.cn only seems to sell cases, not covers (except OEM)

I'm looking for a replacement cover that's less slippery than the OEM one, but not a case that will increase the width.

This is listed as a case but is actually a replacement battery cover. It's what this thread is all about. Cnn.cn is an English as a second language site, so the choice of words is basic.

Ummm ... fellas?

Y'all just need to take your phones down to your local pickup truck custom shop and ask them to spray Rhino Liner on your cover. Probably charge you $5 and will be way tougher than that silicone crap.:D

The Lapdock does have an insert like the cardock/multimedia hd dock/normal dock that can be removed.

So yes, in that sense you can use it with your case.

As for having an insert to replace the stock insert to use with your case, I have no idea. Anyone else know?

thanks, im not sure about the lapdock replacement inserts to fit the case but i remember there was talk about contacting motorola to ask for a different insert for the multimedia dock to make it work(although it still works if you take the insert off, just a bit loose) but you have to be in the states to get it.

Ok, so the car dock and laptop dock have a removalbe thin insert that is designed to be removed when the phone has the OEM moto ruggedized battery cover. You get a perfect fit.

The (1) multimedia and (2) HD docks, which I'll call "desk docks" have a removable "standard battery cover plate" that needs to be replaced with an alternate "ruggedized battery cover plate". This allows the OEM moto ruggedized battery cover to have a perfect fit in either of the desk docks. This plate is difficult to get. So far the only source is Motorola and this thread contains the Moto part number and tips on how to "negotiate" with Motorola for them to send it to you for free. Alternatively, you can remove the standard plate, but the phone kind of "sits funny" in the the oversized space left over.

The end result is priceless. If I still had any spare I'd ship them to other XDA members, but I already did that and only have left over what I personally need.
