i imagine this on a balance.. one side how much they would spent on 7.0 development vs the other people moving away from LG.
what a re you toughts do they loose more money at developing a g4 that should be able to handle 7.0 asn the nexus 5x has nougat.
or all the people that will get angry and dissapointed. as we still in the 2 year update cycle.??
2 Year update cycle means absolutely nothing nowadays.

Manufacturers and carriers have been taking the piss out of Android consumers for a decade now with slow, buggy updates, a multitude of crapware installed onto handsets, a severe failure to keep devices up to date, failure to patch serious security flaws in good time - and Google knows about this and idly sits by and lets it happen. Instead of working with the manufacturers and carriers to fix this, they develop their own handset and concentrate on that.

Google need to stand up for themselves, defend their product and start making demands of their partners - timely software updates, a minimum number of monthly security updates (actually delivered monthly), and a minimum number of major software releases.

Apple won this. They don't allow carriers to install any bloat on their handsets at all. They were brave enough to turn round and lay down the law from the very start and it's worked. Google caved to pressure, allowed manufacturers to put their own skins on the OS, then allowed the carriers to install their own bloatware before the software gets to the consumer.

Google spent quite a lot of time and money on neat Material design for it to be completely shat on by the OEM's. It must be painful to see your hard work messed around with like that, but again, they just sit back and watch it happen.

This phone was really promising when it was first released, and hardware wise it's still a good phone, it's been let down by LG and Google's failures on every step and if those failures aren't enough to make people reconsider purchase of an LG device I don't know what is.

I found a page on the LG site detailing the contents of the monthly security patches released by LG for the G4. There have been one a month throughout 2016 and 2017. How many have actually made it to handsets? For my handset, officially 3. Out of 15 monthly security patches that is a completely unacceptable number.

You tell me you didn't know that a device's hardware specs change over time? It auto degrades the hardware spec by itself so they can't update it.
I know about electromigration but... no with a year and a half device... there are computers with 20 years working perfectly with a linux distribution

Of course its a poor excuse from LG.. they don't want to move don't even a finger.. snapdragon 808 is capable for that and much more! I want to throw the mobile to their faces

Well, even if it is official,
you can still use LineageOS(has been known as CyanogenMod) to get into future Android Versions.

Greetings,
Fischmaster
only those who can unlock bootloader... others are stuck in a place... official update could prolong this device's life
btw with sources for nougat we all could have better quality of camera on LineageOS and similiar (and I think camera quality is most important for many people who bought this phone) but now things are pretty messed up

Oh I am sorry, I totally forgot about that not all devices can be unlocked. That's a shame.
They who can't unlock can hope for an unofficial unlock(which may never come) or stay at Marshmallow. Well, Lollipop and Marshmallow are way worse than Nougat.

It's a very bad decision from LG, because Nougat is getting so much more out of the phone.
But the most of LG's ordinary customers don't even care what is running on their device so LG can update or abandon what they want, only a few percentage of people who are involved in technology and Android are getting angry about that.

Greetings,
Fischmaster

I don't get it. G2 came with 4.2 and got update to 4.4 and 5
G3 came with 4.4 and got update to 5 and 6
G4 came with 5 and got only update to 6
Something fishy about that...

i think bootloop issue is the cause. not the 808 snapdragon thing they say.
they had to fix replace many phones. but thats not our fault. and like i said its still in the 2 year update cycle

Hey guys, one guy on a the Czech forum posted a link he found. It looks like Nougat should not be, but LG changed their decision. Look
http://m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20170304000048#cb
I don't really know what to believe right now, from one side we got info about no update from other side we got info about updating it.
But yeah it's possible they changed their mind because many users were asking about that = more pressure on them.
All the previous Gx models got two major updates but G4 got only one. Anyway they should stop their silence and release some official announcement about this to calm everyone it could help them with building their image as a company. And to be honest LG really needs it.
Btw everyone who have more knowledge about android and stuff knows this "phones are not optimized with the latest version" is really cheap excuse.

I want to believe that article, but the fact it has no source really bothers me.
Anyway that is a REALLY cheap excuse because of one simple thing;
The Version isnt the issue, its the fact that LG hasn't optimized it properly.

we are on same boat as same thing bothers me too ;)
you know porting everything to new OS is not easy that's true, but hey don't tell me they don't have devs and money to make it real, I would even help them with testing
:fingers-crossed:
