Manual system update instructions (taken from HTC website):

If you are outside of Sprint/Wi-Fi coverage, or the update is not found, you may perform a manual system update. This process requires that you download and install HTC Sync Manager first in order to get the proper drivers. If you do not have HTC Sync Manager installed already, you may download the software from http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/ .
WARNING: Performing the system update manually will delete all information from the device. Ensure all information is backed up before proceeding. See the Help & How To section of this website for more information on backing up your device contents.
Performing the ROM Update:

1. Download and save the HTC One™ for Sprint ROM update to your PC.
2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.
4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC One™ for Sprint ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.
5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.
6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.
7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.
8. Once the initial setup process is complete, the device is ready for use.

Note : If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:
· From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.
· Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.
· Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.

To exit FASTBOOT manually, use the volume keys to navigate to REBOOT and press the POWER button to select it.

Flash Firmware via FUU (Firmware Update Utility)....

-Download Generic Firmware Update Utility (FUU)
-Extract generic_FUU.zip to a folder on pc
-Copy your desired firmware .zip to this folder
-Rename the firmware.zip to rom.zip, FUU will not run w/o the rom.zip, there must only be one rom.zip
-Run ARUWizard.exe & follow the steps, just like a RUU

*note s-on users must only use unmodified firmware

-credit to @Sneakyghost for the help, checkout his thread for alot more info on this method

Flash Firmware via Hboot (requires micro sd card)....

-rename firmware to 0PAJIMG.zip
-copy 0PAJIMG.zip to ext_sd card
-boot into bootloader
-make sure hboot is highlighted, press power button
-it will scan your ext_sd card, then ask if you want to start the update
-press volume up & let it do it's thing...

Flash Firmware via fastboot, no ext sd card needed....

-rename firmware to firmware.zip
-copy firmware.zip to your sdk folder
-boot into bootloader
-plug in usb
-select fastboot option (screen should say fastboot usb)
-type Fastboot oem rebootRUU
-when u see the black screen w/ HTC, type Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
-when it's done, type Fastboot reboot

Here's a nice video from @thoughtlesskyle showing you how to flash the firmware:

Great going..

Now we have some forward movement for the One E8.

Hope you will be able to port it also for the other users in other countries in future (not only Sprint)

Keep up the good work.

regards
Greg

I do not have the E8...I was only trying to help briankariu w/ unlocking the sim, and figured I would post the work I've done...sorry, but I do not plan on supporting other E8 variants, but I will help where I can...

Great news!

But wich is the Sprint version?? Is it one of these M8sX, M8sS, M8sT,M8sD,M8sW??
good question, according to this thread the Sprint version does not show the model...it appears Sprint is the only US carrier using the E8

@briankariu has successfully unlocked his Sprint E8, here are the steps to follow:

-if not already, get s-off http://theroot.ninja/

-if not already on 1.22.651.1, flash the RUU in OP

-flash TWRP http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/221

-flash SuperSU http://download.chainfire.eu/635/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.36.zip

-from TWRP, mount /system, then use file manager, navigate to /system/app, rename HTCOMADM_SPCS.odex to HTCOMADM_SPCS.odex.bak

-flash the attached zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3038516&stc=1&d=1417208962

-boot to OS..

-download/install terminal https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en

-using terminal, type su, the $ should change to #

-at # type am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity

-next you should see a menu listing 3 options as follows:
GUI
API
ROAMING OPTIONS

-choose API

-scroll down & select sim unlock, wait until the gray highlight goes away and turns black again

-reboot...sim should be unlocked

well I know @briankariu was able to get s-off, maybe he can elaborate what he did, more specifically what hboot & OS he was on at the time...I know you need to be pretty much stock + rooted....what I usually tell ppl to do is, from a pure stock ROM, unlock, flash twrp, then the supersu zip....that should be enough for the s-off tool

the sprint E8 is almost identical to the sprint M8

From what I understand, if you are on the latest os 1.22.651.1, sunshine doesn't work yet.

Yep, That's the issue. Wish I could downgrade...

Would you happen to know if anyone has a backup of the previous version?

@briankariu may still have a previous backup, but you wont be able to downgrade your firmware, so not sure downgrading OS only will do it for you

I see there's a new sunshine version, 2.7...https://twitter.com/TeamAndIRC/status/539619420830564352

or maybe you'll have to wait for 3.0...https://twitter.com/TeamAndIRC/status/539515938471555072
