I'm wanting to update the firmware on my m8. I'm coming from quite an old firmware 3.30.654.2 HBOOT 3.19.0.0000 I'm also running Bad Boyz sprint One Rom. I'm also unlocked with S-Off

The reason I'm here is because I have an issue where after a fresh install of the rom (can vary) things will force update in the background (google stuff) and usually after my phone will not deep sleep anymore. So I'm thinking maybe updating some firmware versions might help.

I realize I should go one by one up the versions, should I download the ones with the removed boot & recovery? (using twrp) Is there a version I should stop at for the Bad Boyz rom? Or would it be better to go all the way up and just use the matching basic sprint rom from this thread?

damn, that's quite old...

if u flash the firmware one by one, yes, flash the modified version w/ boot & recovery removed. I'd flash to the latest & greatest. I'd have my latest rom zip on the phone ready to flash when you're done flashing firmware.

u might be better off just flashing the latest RUU but you would have to start fresh as it wipes data & internal storage

I have the bad boyz rom zip on my SD card, should I use a different rom?

I usually wipe that stuff when I reflash the bad boyz rom anyway, been needing to do it so often I've gotten used to running lite. But to ask the same question again, should I ditch the bad boyz rom for something else? Just run the basic sprint rom from the RUU?

I also noticed a big jump in older firmware available in this thread, from 4.x to 6.x, is that the natural course of things for the firmware on this phone?

Well got all the firmware updated and that seemed to help it was deep sleeping again, but semi inconsistently (tested over a few days). I decided to run the RUU as per your suggestion (I d/l'd the zip and did the hboot method) but now my device has been unrooted and my recovery has been wiped. So now I need to figure out how to put twrp back on it and root it again.

Edit
Found the WinDroid Tool and got TWRP installed and gained root access again.

Hello,

I am looking for help to resolving the '(bootloader) shift signature size for header checking... failed (remote 32 header error)' that I am getting when trying to flash Android 4.4.2 ROM on Sprint HTC one M8 running Android 6.0. I am trying to downgrade this to 4.4.2 to perform some testing on a certain application for a certain client. I am using fastboot method to flash the rom via cmd.

File being used: Sprint_HTC_One_M8_1.54.651.10_RUU.zip (extracted the contained zip into fastboot folder on my pc)

The device is S-OFF, bootloader unlocked and rooted. Below are the other details of the device:
PS C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools> fastboot getvar all

ruu for asian htc m8

hey guys, i have an htc m8 and
i cant find any ruu for it..the reason why i need to flash a newer ruu is because i am having problems with most of the custom roms. with lineage 15.1 i.e. "phone" is notnworking at all. with some older versins it working from time to time.. obviously this sucks.
so here is the info to my device.
S-off
unlocked
HBoot. 3.19.0.0000
Radio. 1.24.23131147A1.09G

can i flash another RUU or can anybody give an advice?
should i try the HTC ROM Update Utility (RUU), is that capable of finding the correct ruu?

I got an htc one m8 with 4.4.4 installed and there is no update option given in the settings menu. I heard its a custom rom. I want to return my device to stock android 4.4.4. My current software number says "Sprint_M8_X.rom_2.0.5" can someone help me with this issue?

Upgrade path

I've been reading this thread over and I'm a little confused. I have a Sprint HTC One M8 that is S-OFF and stock rooted. I would like to update it from kitkat to marshmallow. Do I need to flash each firmware from oldest to newest to get the latest firmware?

Once I get the firmware flashed do I need to flash each RUU from oldest to newest to get up to the latest?

If it matters this device isn't going to be used as my daily phone, but as a WiFi only device.

HTC One (m7)
Sprint HTC One
i flash the file and did nothing to my phone
Gonna need more information than that...to understand why it did nothing. For comparison it's like saying I just drank a cup of water but I'm still thirsty. Why am I still thirsty ? Was it plain water I drank? Was I working out? Is it extremely hot outside where I am? Providing a little more information on what did you flash. What device sku you have? What version recovery are you on? These are just a few things that could help resolve the issue.
