I post this in the other RUU thread but this one is newer so maybe I someone who knows will see. I'm wondering if it's safe to following the instructions in the original thread if my phones bootloader says this -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
M7_WLS PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-1.00.20.0913_3
OS-3.04.651.2
eMMC-boot 2048 MB
Sep 18 2013, 15:46:04.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks again for the RUU and I hope someone can give me a confirmation!

since you're s-on, I believe you will need to lock first, then you can run the RUU

using fastboot, type this cmd: fastboot oem lock this will relock the bootloader

EDIT / UPDATE ~ Ok so I said screw it and just ran the RUU after it did what I detailed below. It went ahead and ran fine, I'm booted into stock I guess the only downside is in the bootloader it'll say TAMPERED but that's not a big deal. I hope with it saying tampered I can go ahead and receive OTA's, if anyone knows and can confirm I'd appreciate it!

You sir are the man, thank you very much - gonna give it a go right now.

Ok so I tried using the fastboot oem lock and this is what happened ~

<bootloader> lock successfully...
<bootloader> mipi display off
<bootloader> mipi_dsi_cmds_tx_ext
<bootloader> pm8921_vreg_disable function, vreg_id = 38
<bootloader> pm8921_vreg_disable function, vreg_id = 1
<bootloader> TZ_HTC_SVC_DISABLE ret = 534642044 (0x1FDDFD7C)
<bootloader> Use PSHOLD to reset device.
FAILED <status read failed <Too many links>>
Finished. total time: 1.179s

When I ran it the screen went black and the came back to the bootloader at fastboot and now the tops says ----

***TAMPERED***
***RELOCKED***
***SECURITY WARNING***

with the same stuff below it as last time (s-on, hboot 1.55.0000, etc) - Do I just keep it in bootloader and run the RUU now? Also it says 1. Turn on your android phone and connect it to your PC using the usb cable provided. Does that mean I should reboot from the bootloader and just go to my homescreen? Will this be a problem if my bootloader is now locked?

Thanks!

You are now locked and the RUU will complete successfully. Reboot the phone normally to the home screen, connect your USB cable, optionally verify your connection with "adb devices", run the RUU and follow the directions.

Because you are S-ON you can't flash firmware alone unless it is a signed package from HTC. If you go back to stock recovery and ROM you can take the OTA for Kit Kat, or just flash stock recovery and run the RUU. Both options will require you to lock the bootloader first.

If you don't want to do all that, you can wait for a developer to come out with a Kit Kat ROM, but it will not include a firmware update.

You may be able to flash the firmware update if extracted (firmware.zip) from the OTA, not sure because I am S-OFF and don't have to deal with any of this.

I also understand that you may be able to flash an extracted radio image individually via fastboot, but this will not include all the other partitions that will get updated for Kit Kat.

Thanks for the input I don't know how to go s-off so hopefully there will be a way I'm assuming I won't be able to run kit Kat roms without updating radios or firmware
