RUU Help?

My friend couldn't run the RUU on his computer. I tried doing it on mine but it has been stuck on the black and grey HTC screen for a while. Can I remove the phone and go back to HBOOT to start over? If so how? My One X never did this and I've run RUUs three times, so I'm not sure what to do. I should add that it says Sending................ With a lot of dots.

If your using a .exe it can take some time.As you know the program will let you know when it is done

The 2.13.651.1 RUU. He re locked it before giving me it. I just don't want to mess up the phone.
