I tried this full operation thru fastboot, it failed. Now i'm trying thru the ARUWizard.exe 'sending' the rom now.

UPDATE:
*************Running the wizard worked as it was intended.

1. fastboot oem lock
2. run ARUWizard.exe
3. ????????
4. PROFIT!!!
sweet....and thx for the donation bro!

Perfect timing on this...my wife's gs3 just sh¡T the bed, and the iPhone 4s I gave her drove her mad...so she gets my One while I use the iPhone. But only until her upgrade in a few months.

Is rooting this painless?

rooting is pretty easy...

-unlock via htcdev.com
-install custom recovery (twrp)
-flash stock rooted or custom ROM

I'm currently S-ON, have the latest TWRP recovery installed as well and running Bad Boyz Rom. Can i flash Stock Rooted De-odexed from TWRP or do I need to do it through fastboot by first relocking the bootloader?

Please don't shoot me. I just switched from another platform and its been good two years since I have flashed any rom so feeling a little confused.

it's not often you'll flash from fastboot, most of the time it's from recovery (TWRP), you only need to re-lock if you're going to flash a RUU (100% stock from HTC)....so yes, flash the stock rooted from twrp

Thank you!!! You talked me down from the edge... I was just about to give up and run over my phone a couple of times for the replacement. I had tried several proven methods to get back to stock (s on hboot 155), and this worked flawlessly. Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much!!!

Will do. Will doing this prevent me from receiving ota updates? I'm assuming in order to do this I'll have to unlock and root? Yes? And in doing so I'll loose the ability to receive the ota's, correct?
With s-off you can always RUU back to stock if taking a OTA matters that much. And you can flash radios and firmware. Plus one of these days you might take a OTA and there won't a exploit to to root your phone if you choose to.Its always best not to take them. i recommend going s-off to prevent that.
Are staying stock or do you flash a recovery and rom ?

They're always consistently unacceptable for me. Like 100kbps.
