Welcome to moonshine S-OFF. Enjoy.

Important windows notes:

1.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
2.) make sure adb and fastboot drivers are working. (try HTCDriver_4.2.0.001.exe)
3.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
4.) if you are having problems with fastboot, try a usb 2.0 port.
5.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
6.) make sure other programs that interfere with and fastboot are uninstalled (PDANet, Kies, etc.)
7.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
8.) if you use a third party firewall, be sure to grant access to distiller.exe as it checks for updates
9.) MAKE SURE HTC SYNC IS UNINSTALLED
10.) YOU MUST UNZIP THE ARCHIVE BEFORE RUNNING DISTILLER. DO NOT JUST TRY TO RUN IT FROM THE ARCHIVE.

LOL, so is it safe to assume that during your testing you had issues with folks not removing htc sync??

So my Moonshine S-Off failed when distiller.exe was running on Test #2 when it was waiting for ADB. Told me to fix it myself. Any ideas on how to fix it please?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with where I extract "moonshine_jewel_3.16.651.3.zip" to? Should all the files be in the same folder as adb.exe? I'm running the Windows version by the way. Test #1 for Fastboot passed successfully.

This isn't working for me. I get stuck at test 3. It just keeps adding more dots: ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

When you say removing HTC Sync, are you talking about "HTC Sync Manager" on the phone itself? Reason I ask is because I think adb isn't connecting to the phone is because by default, when the phone reboots, the USB connection type is selecting "HTC Sync Manager", which causes adb to not find the device. When I change the USB connection type to "Disk Drive", I'm able to see my devices listed when issuing the "adb devices" command. Does anyone know how to fix this? To make the USB connection type default to "Disk Drive" rather than "HTC Sync Manager" when it reboots? Thanks!

Thanks so much for this!! Worked perfectly. Very simple. Just picked up my EVO after my Galaxy Nexus broke, have been wanting to root and S-off but don't have any blank DVDS to make a linux live-CD, and just got foot surgery so cant drive to the store... This method saved me there. Makes everything extremely simple. This is basically like a 1 click S-off, if you follow the directions. Thanks again!

This works perfectly I must say. Thank you very much!!! I am now S-OFF!!!

Make sure your ADB and Fastboot is working (this is huge), and HTC Sync is 100% uninstalled, but the HTC drivers are still installed. Your phone will restart probably 8 times once Moonshine recognizes your ADB the first time.

If anyone needs any help let me know. This is by far the easiest S-Off of all time!!! Now quit pretending having S-On is acceptable and DO THIS!!!

If you followed the directions 100%, then I wonder how this could fail. If your HTC unlocked, then you should have fastboot and ADB working, I would double check that. Make sure you have everything working and that you have followed the directions 100% perfectly, and it should be easy.

Those all are adb / fastboot / usb failures; drivers missing, HTC sync is STILL installed :p, bad cable, bad usb port etc etc

    I was able to use this after being updated to 3.17 and S-ON, but I had to use it in conjunction with a slightly modified BabyRacun (downgrade mainver to 3.15, flash 3.16 extended firmware, then 3.16 stock rooted).

    Long story short, it can be done, but I don't think it'll matter in a few days anyway. I believe this tool will be updated to work with the latest update shortly.

It runs through the tests fine (even the adb) but when it comes to the "moonshining" my phone restarts and tries to install the MTP driver without success on every restart.     Evo LTE rooted with RegawMod before S-Off was available.
    MeanRom 3.09 Build 3.16.651.3 running stock kernel
    Baseband: 1.12.11.0809

    HTC 4.2 drivers
    adb installed (phone ID'd in command prompt.

    The only reason I want S-Off is to update the radios. I remember last year there was a way to flash it while being S-On. That's since disppeared. I was able to update the baseband with Capt. Throwback's back a while back.

    I'd like to get this done but it's not imperative. The phone works fine as is.
