What's up guys,I just got my htc one and I just unlocked the bootloader but I'm getting ready to soff the device with moonshine, but in the prerequisite it does not state anything about having to be rooted and with a custom recovery.

Is being rooted with a custom recovery needed or do I just continue to soff the device with those two things and then do those two after?
Any help would be appreciate thanks.
Not required. But since you just got the HTC one you need to make sure you have the correct hboot for this method. See the posts above for more info on the hboot requirement.

Thanks, I'm actually on hboot 1.44 which is what needed for the soff method by moonshine.

I guess I'll just soff now and then install a custom recovery and then root the device.

Update=I finally was able to soff my htc one by manually rebooting after the first and second monshining steps but the rest of the steps the phone rebooted by it self.

And my htc one is now soff.

I just RUU'ed all the way back to 1.29.651.10 just so I could get the moonshine hboot. I was previously s-off with revone. It finished the job without a hitch! I don't particularly like having "moonshine S-OFF" in blue text at the top of my bootloader screen but what the heck, time to start flashing some splash screens! :victory:

I am thinking of doing this, may I ask what the benefits are?
More control over your device, basically. Ability to change up radios and hboot, ability to flash custom boot screens...and the ability to really screw your phone up if you don't know what you're doing or inadvertently flash crappy code.

LOL, Yep, thats it in a nut shell.
Folks, After s-off PLEASE pay attention to what you flash. I promise it will save you a world of headache.
