I just used this to flash my Tablet S with wifi only and then flashed the hidden.img at the end. My Play Store is broken and force closes now. Any ideas?

Fixed it by flashing the custom play store with AiO 5.3

I had similar issue with using flasher on a rooted Xperia and installing 6a. Not sure exactly what happened...I stepped away when it was prompting final response on whether to flash hidden.img. But, it seemed like the tablet automatically rebooted without me answering. On reboot, it got stuck on adding applications step (which googling, seems like happens on occasion to other tablets). I manually rebooted, and had no applications on my screen (actually only had the UMS internal/external on my main screen only which I installed from AiO). In the App list, had minimal amount installed, and no PlayStore, and Drive app kept giving error on boot. I tried running flasher from scratch again, and while reboot was ok, was left with same bad set of loaded apps. Utlimately, I did a factory reset. Afterward reboot I got back all my system applications, AND root was kept while on fw 6a . Plus, since I had a backup, Playstore automatically redownloade/installed my applications. :)

I used this to flash my Sony Tablet S (UK, 16GB, WiFi only). All was well for a few days but then the battery drained completely. Next boot, the tablet hung after login.

Hard-powering it down and back up, and it hung on the boot animation (happily runs this 'til all power is drained).

I've tried draining power again and powering it back up, to no effect, and also performing factory reset from recovery (also no help).

Any help at this point would be gratefully received!

You are using AT&T sim card or did you manage to unlock the Tablet P?

I am using AT&T SIM card, called AT&T, but they can't find the unlock for me...:(

Does it work with the At&t Tablet P? It's not specified so i wanted to make sure it's compatible.
It works, read my posts. ICS does extend the device's stand by time, which is good. :D

just keep in mind that my table sometimes has problem connect to network after flash, not sure it's SIM card problem or the firmware.

So just select the Tablet P ICS update from the flasher and let it do it's thing? HSPA+ will work?

Re: S.onyTablet.S v2.5 [FLASHER] - Tab S/P/Xperia fws! new: X Tab 3G fw!, vendor app

Hi Guys,

I've had my tablet for about a year now but have done nothing non-standard with it, although I have been keeping an eye on this forum. I have however flashed various roms on several HTC phones.

So, to get to my questions, is the function of this tool like downloading a Rom and installing it in one go? Does this room include guest mode?

Thanks

Hi,

I plan to use this tool to upgrade my Sony Tablet S to latest software (R5A).
I have now prerooted R1A, which I created with AiO.

In About tablet I have this:
Model number: Sony Tablet S
Android version 4.0.3
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4 [email protected] #1
Build number TISU0117700

In recovery I have this:
Android system recovery (Rev.29)<3e>

I don't understand all about this recovery and hidden.img.
What is about that? should I flash hidden.img or no?
Can somebody explain it all to me or give me some link with explanation?

I want to remain maximum flexibility for any future action on tablet.

Thank you!

Look into using Condi's ALLinONE tool to install his custom prerooted doubleFLASH R5A file. I found that method easier, faster, and trouble-free.

Hi :)

I've finished fully automatic flasher for Sony Tablet S!
There is no need any more to have shell in recovery!

Ladies & Gentlemen...
S.onyTablet.S [FLASHER] !

[What is this?]

S.onyTablet.S [FLASHER] will update your device firmware,
prerooted, 'rescue-backdoored', with init.d added,
and write permissions for ext-sdcard enabled,

All this automatically, you dont need to manual dl anything,
copy, recovery etc. Nothing. Just plug in your tab,
and run this tool :) It will automatically download needed
data. Its prepared with new prerooted fw versions:
  • Sony Tablet S: R5A 3g+wifi, R5A wifi only,
  • Sony Xperia Tab: R6B 3g+wifi, R6B wifi only,
  • Sony Tablet P: R5A

It will be updated with more in future releases.

Its region independent! Region is not important while flashing!

[Requirements]:

- root is required,
- adb debugging enabled,
- free space on internal storage,
- works with locked recovery :)

The tool will work for R5 users who can't use classic
custom prerooted fw, because of new recovery shell lock down.

So if you are on R5, then with this utility you will get prerooted R5A,
all this without recovery with just a single click :)

Everything you do at your own risk,
and DO NOT interrupt flashing!

What are further benefits of this tool?

- when Jelly Bean will be released - it will be based on new kernel,
which is inside hidden.img - to have working Jelly Bean you will have
to flash hidden.img also. Until now if you had locked recovery,
you had no chance to flash new prerooted fw.

Jelly Bean - we are ready for you ! :D

The only one condition - have root already on device.
So - if you've updated to stock R5A, then you can't root.
If you don't have root, then you can't use classic preroot method,
neither this new feature.

and again - warning - want to use this tool?
then DO NOT UPDATE to stock ota R5A!

Thanks for the answer, but shouldn't this FLASHER be easier, automated, way to flash that prerooted R5a ROM?

If I understood correctly, reading this forums, since R5 and R5a there's new recovery which has something locked, tabs with it can't be rooted unless they are prerooted, and that recovery can't be changed back to older one? And it is not necessary to have it until we get Jelly bean on our tabs?

So, I guess I want to stay on R1A's recovery. I just don't update hidden.img, because that's where recovery is? and hidden.img is encrypted and can't be modified in any way? is there something else, that is important to update, in that hidden.img?

Thanks in advance for all answers!

Condi's custom prerooted doubleFLASH R5A file includes R1A's recovery, not R5A's.
