for me flasher was the solution for update to JB...

I flash JB and hidden and all works perfectly...

only I had a problem... Can't enter to recovery pressing Power button + Vol(+).... :(

In JB is another form for enter to recovery?
On the Sony Xperia Tablet S right?, maybe the hidden.img file messed up while flashing.

Anyway, I was thinking why can't we make a custom rom for our poor locked devices like set up the detailedSKU file to work with the highest version of the SKU value and sign the custom rom zip to create a workaround for the bootloader?

Sony's Android 4.1.1 is for the Xperia Tablet S, it cannot be installed on the Sony Tablet S.

Maybe if someone creates a BLOB file of a recovery we can use the following command to install it in Android Terminal Emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4

the function of which would be to downgrade? Because then you can swap recoveries?

What about if they were in the proper format? There is a tool that will put roms and kernels into ftf format.

The whole point is to downgrade from r5a to r1a recovery allowing ADB.

R5A Update now stuck on Sony logo

Hi everyone,

Tried to update to R5A using this tool and now I am stuck on the Sony logo and cannot access ADB Shell in recovery.

Should have known doing something like this before going on vacation is a bad idea. Looks like I am going out to buy a new tablet.

Anyone have any ideas? I tried to flash via SD but I get SKU errors, not sure how to check region info without ADB.

Thank you in advance!

Mine is SGPT211US/S (At&T) running 3.2.1 rooted.
Can I change region and update by your Flash Tools.
Does it lost 3g connection ? Thanks so much !

You can if you choose the correct carrier in the flash options (in this case AT&T) and follow the instructions if there is.
For your massive question, yes.

Bought a Galaxy Tab 2 7" as a replacement. If anyone has any ideas on how to recover my Tablet S there is a beer in it for you =) :good:

Try wiping the data in recovery, it that does not work then of course it can be the system or something.

Try to find out the latest SKU version on your tablet and that note of that value, decrypt the flashable zip using Desklunvr.exe (assuming you have those files), Go into the zip, go into the folder META-INF and then look for the file with the name "DetailedSKU" has the name (does have file extension), edit the file so it has the same SKU value which you had in the beginning but count up in ones until you made a list of SKU'S like 1 per line till you reach line 3, save that file and back out, use Condi's tool to sign it and try to flash it via recovery.

Thanks andyabc, i used the S.onyTablet.S [FLASHER] v3.0 and attempted to install Option 2 (4.0.3 R5A wifi only for Sony Tablet S) so all files were pulled down automatically by the tool. Everything went smoothly and i selected "FLASH R1A's hidden.img [last shell-enabled]", all checked out and the tablet rebooted before it got stuck.

Your solution sounds feasible but I have no ADB access so what would be the best way to find the SKU. Also, am i correct to assume that to use Condi's tool to sign the package I would need a working rooted tablet?

It sounds like there is no quick solution to this and I am flying out tomorrow. I guess I will attempt this battle when i return. Thanks again for the ideas.

For the second solution you just need a PC, device on Recovery and an SD Card, no ADB required.

I messed up on the signing and decrypting.
So for decrypting use the same method as encrypting.
As for Signing you will need an app on an other Android device if it works and get this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kellinwood.zipsigner2
After you got that you must move that decrypted file over to that device, open the app, select the input and output file, change the mode to platform and start signing.
After that was successful move the file to the file to the SD Card (if you have USB OTG support, if not then use PC) insert it into the tablet, go to recovery mode to flash it and you should get output, if you get errors in the output tell me them, if you don't remember them then try again.
Because we are on R5A's recovery it is really tricky to get that working.
It it fails then Sony must of either placed a special signing or a file still needs modifying.

I just want to confirm that this is the best way to update from 4.0.3(version 5) to jb?

I also had an issue since i used AIO a long ways back when i first updated to 4.0.3. Where each time i booted up my tablet i would be stuck loading in the startup animation for ever. If i rebooted from there it would start up as normal, but it would say building android apps 0/105....and would take a bit till it finished.

Anyone else experienced this or ever heard of it happening?

Xperia tab SGPT12 experience

Tried updating xperia s tab SGPT12 that was running 4.1.1 stock rooted with motochopper. I was trying to use FLASHER because system was requesting an OTA to 4.1.1 even though it was already running 4.1.1. Couldn't figure that out so thought I'd try this...

FLASHER d/l'd the fw fine and said the flash was fine but reboot hung at Sony boot screen for about 30 minutes. Hard powered down. Rebooted to Xperia with popup saying system update failed.

Had 2 SU apps (Superuser and Super SU). Neither of them worked. No longer appeared to have root (apps requesting root failed). Removed Super SU. Same problem. Restored factory resets in recovery which cleaned up the UI but still no root.

Not exactly sure where I'm at now. Still playing.

First off the AiO would have been able to stop the update notices and would have been the best choice I believe.....AiO 6.2 was the latest and what I used at the time but may be updated to higher rev. no. by now.

Second I think if your tablet fails boot from Flasher tool that you are pretty much hosed. If you read back from when the Flasher was first updated for use with JB, Flasher v3.0.....around post #271 April 18, 2013 5:32pm....and read all the way up to present then you will see what I mean.

Luckily for myself, I was out of town and not able to update anyway and by the time I was going to do the update I read that the Flasher tool v3.0 had some problems and that anyone who used it had to send their tablets back to Sony. So I waited a short time and then motochopper was presented so i just did the OTA update directly from Sony then used motochopper and then used AiO to apply a few tweaks, one being to turn off update notifier.

Lastly when you read back through from the post number 271 you will see a couple of guys exchanging some lines and a reference to another thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242683 titled 'Debricking ideas for Xperia Tablet S' that may be of some help or not??? Either way, the author of that 'debricking' thread is a very intelligent person and the conversation within is a very good read, quite engaging, and quite possibly the answer you are looking for.....if not, you'll still feel smarter at the end of the thread, I did.

Good Luck
