Thx a lot !
It makes me a little less sad since we'll never experience JB on tablet S...

Weird thing : System proposes me a new update. I suppose I have to deny it ?
Do NOT accept it at all.
If you applied the backdoor then go to the Tools and go to the same menu you went on to apply the backdoor, you should see an option to toggle to turn on/off update notifications, it should turn it off, to check if it works go to the settings and press the software update button, it should take you to a fully stock android firmware updater, that shows that it worked so back out of it and you have that issue fixed.
If you where wondering why there is an update it is to do with the backdoor changing the SKU to a lower value so it detects that there is an update when there is really isn't so when it said you have an update it is the same version.
Update if you want to unroot, you can still root again but it is pointless unless you need to fix any damage to the system partition.

ok. I see you have found a root method for R5A which is very close to the current firmware on another Sony Tegra device The NWZ-Z1000 series walkman. I tried to root my "walkman" with the new root method but i've stumbled upon the next issue: the <run_root_sh_script> doesn't work because it says my device is unsupported... Is there anyway to bypass the device check and try to run it. The kernels of these two devices are very much alike - again the first root method and other tweaks for Tablet S worked on the Z Walkman. Thanks

I have got the SGPT13 (it´s also the Tablet S, or am I wrong here?). Where can I find a rooting/flashing solution for this device?

With AIO Tool look for the option: 1 Root device.

Sony Tablet S (former code name Sony S1):

Sony Tablet P (former code name Sony S2):

Xperia Tablet S:

Xperia Tablet Z:

I got a SGPT13 (Xperia Tablet S) today and it has ICS 4.0.3 release 6. OTA update prompts to update to JB 4.1.1

Just want to confirm before I start anything, from what I've read I should NOT update via OTA if I want root. Can I update it using this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050126 and it will then be rooted?

How easy is it to go back to stock should I ever need to send the tablet in for repairs?

Rootable even if the update is done via OTA?

So is it just the Tablet S that is not rootable after updating via OTA while the Xperia Tablet S IS rootable after OTA JB update?

Sony's nomenclature is confusing >.<

First off, Awesome work Condi!

Now, I'm having issues flashing the custom.zip. I keep getting status 7, and I have the recovery drivers installed.

Here is my problem:

I'm a linux user and REFUSE to install windows on my machine. But as a compromise, I installed windows 7 in a vm. But when the device reboots, something between the vm and the host, my usb ports are shutting down. I can't track down the problem. So I tried flashing the zip in recovery manually and I get some prohibit error ( I know I should have noted it verbatim, but I was like, screw this I have a kernel to finish...lol). So I am basically stuck. I have rebooted the tab several times while in linux and have had no issues with the usb ports dying.

I am not good at deciphering batch code and converting it to shell (I know little about windows these days...it was easy to forget...lol).

So is there any way you, or someone else here, write the AIO in a shell script?

QUOTE=mickeymkd;43974944]Is it possible to return to stock (factory conditions) Sony Tablet S that is rooted, and if so what is the correct procedure?

The tablet is on ICS 4.0.3(r5a).[/QUOTE]

You can use the unroot option, and factory reset. Or you should be able to update to the latest OTA firmware.

Condi thanks again for this tool. I do have one minor problem, I am using an XTS. I was not able to download gta vc, as the play store said it was not compatible with the XTS. So I changed it to an Acer throught the AIO and successfully downloaded the game. When I used the AIO to change it back, it was changed to STS. Can you add an option to spoof device as the XTS? Or will you let me know what this option changes in the build.prop so I can change it back?

This AIO tool is great! It has allowed me to easily and successfully root 2 STS tablets and 1 XTS, and it has saved the tablets on more than one occasion! I bricked and fixed the STS and the XPS!
Keep up the great work (but only when you have time in between the family)

There should be an option to restore your original build.prop... This will have the values for XTS. If you attempt to restore the build.prop yourself make sure permissions are set to rw-r-r or you WILL GET BRICK.

Does the factory reset removes the mods and tweaks that were previously applied with the AIO Tool?

From recovery mode, can i reflash again the latest OTA firmware signed-nbx03_009-ota-121116046.zip for my device?
