I downloaded V 6.5 and it won't run as it says there's an update to version 16.3 available. I added the file to bypass the update check and am now seeing an error message of:

'findstr' is not recognized as an internal or external command.
operable program or batch file.

I'm on Win 7 64-bit. I saw someone posted a year ago about this but the fix they posted isn't clear to me (the convo starts at post #301). They stated there was "a missing ; in the PATH variable." Where am I adding a semi-colon? Is it in the .bat file? Is there a line number?

I'm new to rooting the Sony Tablet S, but not new to rooting Android. Is this the preferred tool for rooting this tablet? I'm on R5A. Lastly, I remember looking at rooting this tablet a looong time ago but there were posts about rooting it breaking the IR blaster. Is this still the case?

EDIT: I ended up copying findstr.exe into C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_30\bin and that fixed the findstr error message.

EDIT 2: That was all it took. I'm rooted and everything appears to be working just fine. Thanks much!
Find String...
Strange that it occurred, all least that is solved.

Use region changer again? Is Turkey not in the list? Also there should have been a back up made by AiO. I think option 0 restores it.

Turkey is not in the list and backup has not been taken due to computer formatted after region change. my problem is GSM feature is not working does not search for network and doe snot see inserted SIM card. any clue for this ?

Try changing to UK + 3G? My guess is that you selected a non 3G region so the sim is not working. Let me know how you get on. :)

Na, most likely to do with the region.

Getting closer BUT they did clarify that the case is closed. :/
Thank you for your reply.

The manager confirmed that we cannot support changing or rooting the firmware or changing anything in the boot-loader of the Tablet.

I hope that my e-mail clarified this matter as the case will be closed.
I have asked why it is exactly not supported but they will not reply with a valid answer by saying that the manager said that it is not supported which is getting slightly irritating.
EDIT: They just said that it is a part of the company policy, just talking more to see why exactly is it within the policy.

:p The Problem is that the support has to say what the management want. If we could get in talk with one of the Persons who worked on the Sony Tablet S, maybe he could give us a hint for the bootloader or he could get in contact with a higher ranked person for us.
But i think, that the chances are not so good for this :crying:

If they tell then they will get fired, I just don't know why it is in the policy, they will not even reply to that question.

I may have to open an other case.

Advice needed for a China Tablet S

I'm a newbie when comes to customizing an Xperia, even in rooting. Appreciate if anyone can advice me on the following:

QUOTE
CHINA DEVICE TUTORIAL! v0.4:

1. Root device using option no.1,
2. Run tweaks&mods - and apply Rescue-Backdoor function,
3. Run region changer and choose US region,
4. Download US ICS R1A FIRMWARE,
END QUOTE

In CONDI's CHINA DEVICE TUTORIAL found in this thread, it is mentioned to root device using option no. 1. What is this option and where can I find option no. 1?

Also where can I download IS ICS R1A FIRMWARE?

Thanks.

Just root using this tool, it will mention root on the main screen.
For R1A you will have to use the backdoor in the tweaks section and then flash the China R1A OTA here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687429 (don't know if you are using 3G model or not), you will then have to root again.
Please note that the recovery does not downgrade at all what so ever.

Hi All,

I've made a root with this tool and everything seems to be fine, but I still can't delete some APKs from system folder, neither to install there. I just get the Permission denied message. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!!
