Hi Condi my friend,

my congratulations and best wishes for you and your wife ...
Enjoy your new 'status' ;-) and I am looking forward for 'little Condi' :p

I guess you will have limited time for Tablet S and ICS update ...
Let me/us know if I/we could do some work of investigation.

Is it possible to change region to Mexico to receive a OTA update immediately?
What do you think about?

Thanks very much friend :) :)
hahah little condi or little magda ;)
Its very nice to be husband :D

as of region change - no problem with mexico,
just run AiO and change it.
You have also to have correct build.prop incremental
value, from the last mexico update,
in order to get next OTA.

To do this - change region to mexico,
download ota update, decrypt it,
unpack system.img, and use ext2explore-2.2.71
to unpack build.prop - get incremental value
from there.

Then if it was 3.2 old update, then
change your build.prop value,
and you will get another 3.2.1 latest ota.
Do the same steps as before,
and stay on with latest build.prop value.

Then just wait for ICS :)
And be sure after ICS will come,
to modify again your build.prop
with lower vallue to be 'safe' - 'rescue-backdoor'.

I installed the rescue-backdoor then the OTA fix, soon after I installed the OTA fix, I got a notification that an update is ready to be installed. I un-knowlingly installed the update and now I cannot get back the root. Please suggest me what I can do..

If the installed update has build 10 kernel, unfortunately there's nothing you can do now. Just wait for some news....

Could you post exactly information about Android version and Kernel version, please?
You will find this pieces of information under 'settings-> about this tablet'

If you have luck, you are now on Android version 3.2 with kernel build#10 and a second update is available.

If you are now on Android version 3.2.1 (release2) with Kernel version build #10 -> Hard luck !

I've made today some simple test.
We can test out all the recovery binaries, patched ones, cwm ones,
without risk.

Without risk, but also only temporarly for now.
But its good to make something more :)

Recovery is being replaced [in recovery mode booted].

Simple test with edited original recovery,
no checksum, just changed the title :D
Just as curiosity :)

Could you explain how, please?
If it is possible the modify the recovery, it should be possible to eliminate the signature check, yes? To implement Nandroid backup&restore also?!

Yes, you can patch original recovery binary to disable signature check,
but as I wrote - its temporary. The way to achieve it is the same,
as with temporary keys change (in AiO function).

Use _hack_recovery.zip from as in AiO, push your modified recovery bin,
for example:
Code:
adb push modified_recovery /cache/recovery
then get into adb shell, get root, and if you want to replace recovery
binary which is located in /sbin/recovery, then you can't because of error:
Code:
cannot create /sbin/recovery: text busy
So use my clever command :) > which finds out process id of recovery,
kills it, and then quickly replaces binary, because recovery goes back in a moment:

Code:
/system/bin/kill -9 `/system/bin/ps | /system/xbin/grep recovery | /system/xbin/awk '{ print $2 }'`; /system/bin/cat /cache/recovery/modified_recovery > /sbin/recovery
And after blank screen, and a second or two you will get your new recovery,
of course if its correct/proper one :)

And as I said - temporary till reboot. So on one side - its good cause
its 100% secure, but on the other side its bad cause its not permanent :D

Hi all!

First of all I want to give my congratulations to condi on the fine job he's doing, and the marriage.

Second I want to ask "in public" permission to port the AiO to Linux and added links to the port and the original on my website (still unpublished).

I'm working on a full system theme so all my devices (android, laptop, desktop amd media center) to have all the same color scheme.

Best regards to all

Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

I know what it says... but is there anything i can do to the device to reset the kernel back to the original factory kernel?

hi condi,

sebarkh was helping me but he hasnt replied to my last message so he must be busy and i am eager to get this done lol. appreciate the help he was giving though :)

i posted earlier (above) to show i couldnt do anything due to no root and posted the screenshot of the error.

sebarkh said i just needed to create a custom ROM with your tool. i must have missed something as the instructions he gave to do that with your tool requires you to have root.
I am sure i am probably missing something small and stupid but if you could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Short version is i am happy to wipe this thing back to older kernels or do whatever is needed to root it but i am a bit lost with it.
