You needed to wipe and then let it boot, not try to flash again.
Before I flashed i wiped and booted it but it got stuck again and thats why I went back to the recovery to re flash
Its getting late here gotta get some sleep, ill try some more tommorrow,
thanks for your help so far quiqsilver
Does this mean I have to send it back to SONY?

It sometimes gets stuck in a bootloop when downgrading to HC from ICS. The solution to that is a factory reset after the flash completes, which you did. I'm not sure what the issue is there.

The problem at this point is that your system seems to have flipped back to trying to boot the partition with ICS. Strangely, though, recovery is checking the build number of the HC partition when deciding whether to accept an update. (This is likely a bug in recovery. It should check the new version against the "active" version, i.e., the version it's trying to boot, but instead it's checking against the newer, but now "inactive" partition.) The version you're trying to flash is the same version on the HC partition, so it's rejecting it. To open a shell, we need recovery to accept the "hacked_recovery" files, but it will not because they are lower versions than the one it's checking against.

It's likely that the only option at this point is to flash the official ICS update (without root). If you want root, you could send it to Sony and hope it comes back with HC (you could probably request this). It's also possible that the bootloader will flip back to trying to boot HC after more attempts at factory resets and boot attempts -- the bootloader's decision on which partition to boot to seems a bit quirky at times -- or that recovery will fix itself and start checking the proper partition before updating. If you can get into recovery while the bootloader is flipped back to trying to boot the HC partition (if it ever does), a factory reset might solve the problem.

I'd also like to know what rfreeman asks..

I did follow the AIO process, but by mistake flashed the "untouched" file from US firmware. So now I have ICS working just fine, but without root.

If I try to re-flash the HC version in this forum I got an error: "Prohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku"

Is there any way to revert to HC using the recovery (VOL+ while powering on) ?

Thanks to condi and all the people working on this!
Rfreeman, any news about our problem? Did you found a way to reflash? I've tried a few more things, but wuthiur resuolts and I'm a bit afraid to brick my device.

:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks,
------------------------------------------------
Edit:
Its seems we're out of luck. You need root in ICS to flash anything, even if you have access to the recovery:

I think we just have to wait they brake the kernel #10 version.

Flash problem with Ics

I think don't try to many flashes and we must wait until there is a Root option.

I mean at the moment my Tablet is runing Ics but without root and i get the same error in the Recovery with update fail so it is not so easy to override the update checkpoints at the moment.

Is it possible to patch the Us Ics to get root or do a nandroid from a device with rooted Ics and install this over an unrooted Device?

I don't now how many people have the same fail, but i think we wait the whole time to get later some news from Condi about this problem.

So I should be able to install official non rooted ics just to get it back. I don't mind losing root for now to get the tab back to a normal state. I will try this shortly and get back to you again

With 2.9 you can change the region after ics update. It will not brick your device. I did it. And it works.
I think we mess two versions of AIO capabitities: pre 2.9, where people reported problems after changing region, and 2.9, updated and compatible with ics.

Btw, I'm tired explaining this over and over again for those who don't follow the thread carefully.
We need some FAQ on that.

Okay when I came down this morning I switched on my tab and went back up to bed and left it. I came back down and gingerbread is on :) Whatever we done did work last night it seemed to have needed more than 15 mins to boot.

Everything is AOK again so I can now continue to root like before and get it back to basics again.
Thanks so much for your help man I really appreciate it and I will not be pulling any framework-res.apk anymore until I fully understand it :) :)

Thanks for your help I am using your AIO tool again to get back in the game :)

EDIT: ICS Rooted installed and running once again :)

Condi, et all,

Any word on the breaking of Kernel #10 for those of us stuck on Stock ICS? I screwed up my update and now I don't have root :(

I am hoping either someone will have to break Kernel #10 or find a way to flash an old version of HC so I can get root again.

If anyone have a good Tutorial to go back to stock from Build 9#1 US-ICS with US Region so please tell me how it works to get my German Region with HC 3.2.1 release 2.

Is it not possible to make an Hacked OTA with german Build prop and to bring it over the Recovery to work?

thanks

I manually switched him to US, so it would have failed the region check unless that file has 27550100 in detailedSKU.lst for some reason. If it does, it would be useful to know.

I've been running 3.2.1 on my sony tab for about 2 months and love it, Ive always been concious that the majority of peeps out there seam to have rooted their tab..... really i suppose my question is why ???? other than access to other apps and being able to install ICS (im in the UK) i dont really see what the benefit is??

if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.

Again appologies for being off topic

You may google the benefits of rooting, every1 has his/her reason(s) to seek root, mine is I use a windows mobile device as an internet acceess point, without root I can't access internet on the go through my tab, but there r 10s of other reasons

I do not see any solution to root my Kernel Build9#1 so is there an option to brick my device to get it back to Sony for Warranty or something like this.

No Dev tells anything if they work hard or if they don´t see any solution.

I have tried all the OTA but nothing works every time they tells me:

Prohibit Udates as a result of checking version or base sku or something like this.

The Asus Transformer Pad is Rooted on ICS with the Viper Tool is this not possible to change the tool for the Sony S?

I think to flash this device was so easy but my Samsung galaxy S1 had an USB-Jig that makes it possible to get to Download Mode.

I´m waiting this week and weekend and if there is now solution i will sell my Sony or bring it back for Warranty.

I found out that the build in Remote-Control App in the German Tablet´s many more Devices Supports as the US ICS build in App.

So after a Full Reset my Tablet on ICS has now less hardware support on the Remote Control app.
