FINALLY.... my tablet is alive again.. (though she is now an American and I can't root her!)... I downloaded the 3.2.1 ROM and tried to flash that.. looked like it had worked, but then the tab STILL wouldn't go past the SONY logo on boot.. so I tried again (after resetting factory settings..) again.. said it had finished flashing but..still no luck.. so I thought I'd try flashing the UK ICS over the top.. but no joy.. so finally.. I tried the honeycomb ROM again.. then the US ICS over the top of that (all from within Recovery)... and BOOOOOM... up and running..
Do you have a signed custom UK ICS?

For some reason, I can only connect adb in normal (debug) mode, not in Recovery, so can't decrypt my OTA UK ICS in order to create a custom to then flash :(

Sounds like you both need to install the drivers properly.

Which firmware do you have and which build number and have you got all of the required things installed?

3.2.1, thmas0012400

i had the tablet rooted before, i used the tool to unroot, i did a factory reset, and was starting like it was brand new when that happened
If you unrooted your device you will never get the root back.l, unless some devs findout a method to root the new kernel.

WHY HAVE YOU UNROOTED THIS??????
You should know that all this mess with AIO tool is just because we can not root out tablet and only way is to flash prerooted fw. And to flash it, you need to have root...sorry you didn't know this in time... But it was all in the first page of this thread..

Don't think that's what he was saying. There is no reason why he can't re root the tab as long as he is still on honeycomb and not build10.

Would suggest you check your version of busy box. Aio kept stripping out the bb file and leaving it as an empty 0 byte shell!

As good as aio is, it does seem to have a lot of problems too.

Its easy to write that there are a lot (?) of problems,
but Im convinced that it would be better to describe the issue,
with all the infos from AiO, in which part it remains etc.

Do you agree with me ?
I'm not sorcerer and I dont have crystal ball..

I'm trying to use this tool, but aparently my tablet is not recognized by it (it's recognized by W7 x64). I have USB debug mode active and also allow unknown sources . What am I missing/doing wrong?

Thanks.

Last version runs without problems as long as you do things STRICTLY as written.
Tested and confirmed.

But be exact: what kind of problems: be specific, so that Condi can fix it.

TO be sincere: I can see a couple of guys (5-10) that cant cope with this. They are just a milipercent of all users of AIO. And if it doesn't work for you it can mean that it's your fault as well. And instead of denying this just DESCRIBE YOUR PROBLEMS IN DETAIL, so that it can be identified and solved.

I have described my problems in detail, several times in this thread already.

Please look back through the thread and you will see.

Nope.

I am quite familiar with flashing and android and have a fair amount of experience...
You should be also familiar with read&understand.

From OP, FAQ section:
Code:
8. I've bricked my device! What can I do?
- As long as your 'region.zip' file is not damaged, then for 99% your tab can be fixed.
Firstable try to flash this 3.2.1r2 firmware.
(removed from s.ony server - added mirror!)
In most cases it works. If it will fail then:
1. Boot into RECOVERY;
2. Try to flash the update again - it will fail - thats ok;
3. Wait for 2-3min to get adb available;
4. Use 'adb pull /tmp';
5. Post your recovery.log and region.prop files.
You've made new thread with this content:
My tablet is currently bricked.. On booting I get the Sony logo then...nothing.. Just goes dark and doesn't do anything..

Happened after I tried to change the region.. Think it's screwed up my region files, so won't boot..

I think that for some reason AiO is screwing up my busy box.. Every time I try to run it the busy box check leaves me with an empty (0 bytes) busy box file..

DOES ANY ONE know if you can Adb push the region files back into the system partition from within recovery?
..which is NOT "describing my problems in detail" as you wrote.
Again > FAQ, point no. 8.

Your problems occurred because of: 1) other su binary / 2) other su path / 3) "new" slimmed busybox without some modules.

You saw problems with RO /system (screenshots) - you should check it out, also problems with busybox - you should install primary version from AiO directory. With "fair amount of experience" you could do that without problems on your own, manually via adb shell, or easy click-by-click with Root Explorer for example (remounting /system as rw - one click, replace files, permissions, with few clicks).

I always ask for full description of problem, with all the possible data/information. You had bootloop with Sony logo - 'semi-brick' - which apparently was caused again - by bad su/busybox - which you had to install on your own before.
And again - FAQ, no.8 - you havent provided recovery.log - which would tell us what region SKU you have, incremental - and we could give you proper fw to fix your tab in few minutes.
If you would spent more time reading&understading - then you would know, that for successfull downgrade - you have to wipe device directly just after flash - again FAQ, but now no.7.

You have also written:
Since running it [AiO 4.0] I can't connect to a wifi network (it shows on the list with full strength, until I try to connect then it drops to nothing and won't connect)... every time I try to go into recovery mode it auto runs your hack recovery.. I can't stop it!..
AiO tool cant make your wifi not working.
OK - adhoc function is not compatible with ICS, but since many versions of AiO that function contains ICS check - and denies install.
autorun of hack recovery is because of name of the file on sdcard - 'install.zip' - this is how recovery works. You could just delete install.zip file from sd, its also done automatically in beginning of "Flash..." function in AiO - 989th line of code:
Code:
files\adb shell "su -c 'rm /mnt/sdcard2/install.zip'" > NUL 2>&1
.
So now you have flashed stock ICS, you have no root
- I'm sorry but no fun with AiO for you.

No offence. Just facts.
Everything which is included in AiO - every function, everything,
can be done manually, with some experience and adb only.
Its made all automatic. More than 4000 lines of code.
Sometimes it was fckin hard to get some of the (past) problems resolved,
predict some things, make some checks in code,
and all the conditions, dependencies etc etc etc.

And I've got only my own device, can test it on my device,
but I also need reports from other users.
This is how bugs can be found and fixed. The only way for now.
For now because - lol, we are on the same boat :D
I have no root for now, as you guys now.

So, again - I will always be happy to get useFULL info if some issue
will be found, in order to fix it in next AiO version.
I always do my best to make it better and better.
AiO tested with many many users, also v4.0 was tested by me,
remotely with my two friends.

So as long as you have correct su, correct busybox,
it should work just fine.

Thats all for today. Im tired. Bed.
