lol guys I was just analyzing last incremental update (US R1A >> R5) and found loll like an easter egg hahahah:

Code:
ui_print("Removing unneeded files...");
...
       "/system/app/PlusOneAppManagerService.apk", "[B][I]/system/bin/su[/I][/B]",
       "/system/etc/bluez/bluecore6.psr",
       "/system/etc/permissions/com.sony.remotecontrol.ir.xml",
       "/system/etc/permissions/com.sony.smallapp.xml",
       "/system/framework/com.sony.remotecontrol.ir.jar",
       "/system/lib/libgcomm_jni.so", "[U][B]/system/xbin/su[/B][/U]",
       "/system/recovery.img");
hahahah s.ony friends are watching us lol ;) best regards for you guys :D

BTW im still pushing AiO further (v5.2 is being made ;) )

PS. thats another image where I see in middle/end of the script to delete /system/recovery.img.
So my point is that there is some way to boot /system/recovery.img instead of already flashed one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are able to build a custom recovery I will be super excited! I vote for twrp.

Voodoo ota root keeper worked for me for those who want to update

important note about ota rootkeeper!
it will work only on incremental update which patches files, the regular (full) update replaces all the partition,
so please do not mislead people, there is no chance to get rootkeeper to work on full upd !

welcome back...

condi,
Welcome back...just wanted to thank for your effort and provide some feedback...

US Tab S running 4.0.3 r5. Script ran through twice without being able to start the terminal. On third try the script hung. I reset the tab and tried again. No luck. I remembered seeing a few notes in the original ICS root process thread about installing the terminal emulator from the store and moving it to the SD card before running the process. This worked like a charm! Seems that some tabs (mine included) have this quirky issue.

Might it be possible to script the install and move into AiO?

Thanks again!

Hi Dan,

As far as I remember the problem with terminal occured on some very first script versions,
where terminal app was installed to internal memory (/data/app),
and after reboot it just disappears.

In current version terminal.apk is being installed automatically to storage card
(adb install -s) which should be the same as manual move to external storage ;)

The problem with intent error 3 as far as I was trying to resolve it,
was with packages.xml - even when 'injecting' was successfully,
device after reboot restores packages without vpnfaker.
Unfortunatelly (for now) I dont know the way to keep it, or force it,
to stay there ;) you have just to try and try..

You can check what I said easly:

1) after vpn faker injected:
adb.exe shell "cat /data/system/packages.xml | /data/local/tmp/busybox grep vpndialogs"

2) and just after reboot again.

when intent error 3 will appear - vpnfaker will be gone.

I've even changed permissions to /data/system /data/system/packages.xml etc.,
and yes - vpnfaker was there, but sony looped on animation,
or intent still didnt work.

So again - I think that if it worked for you after manual installing terminal,
most probably it would be coincidence ;)

Thanks for the info, and if you would have some further ideas
of course write ! - i will appreciate all of them :)

PS. to be 100% sure I will modify script and try to install to internal, then after that move to external ;)

Hi Condi,

I'm sorry, this thing don't work at all. (v5.1.7) VpnFaker and the modded packages.xml simply vanishes after the reboot. I think Sony did something to r1a already, unfortunately that's the firmware that came with the new tablet.

Singaporean Tablet S 4.0.3 r1a. Unfortunately I need root to change region, so no US tab for me!

(Sis bought this one because it was on a fire sale. No wonder - It's a dead end purchase. These guys are worse than Samsung. <_<)

Edit: ...persistence pays off. After about 30+ tries, I finally got the exploited terminal running.
Thanks for your hard work attempting to get around Sony's protection. :3
