Hi All.

Right so as the title say's this topic is about s-voice.

I used s-voice on my stock SIII and I have to say it wasn't great.
It worked but only so so.

Now I found that the version of S-Voice that was included on the leaked version of 4.2.1 was fantastic. It really worked very well.

I have since then gone back to stock and now run Sotmax and as far as I can tell the version is the same as stock.

So basically back to not great.:(

You can understand that I was exited to see the s-voice for the S4 and rapidly installed only to to quickly find that it's horrific.

Really isn't very good at all.:crying:

So what I've done is I've pulled the S-Voice out of the leaked 4.2.1 and installed on my SIII. Have to say I love it this is the best version of S-Voice out there in my opinion. It's also a lot bigger than the S4 version (~32MB compared with ~25MB)

Give it a try and see what you think.....

Now if I could only make it look like the S4 version......

S-Voice_From_Leaked_4.2.1.zip

Now what I can't understand is why would they release a version of S-Voice that is just no where near as good as one they have on their test bed for 4.2.1 on the S3. Unless this is some personally tweaked version from that developer....?

Any how, Included languages are:

German
English (UK)
English (US)
Spanish (Spain)
Spanish (Latin America)
French
Italian
Thai (I don't know as it looks like gibberish to me....)

I use the UK one my self so I can't say how well the others work but I would love to know.

I downloaded and installed the s4 version the day it was dumped, us version, it is a vast improvement, and works great even on 4.1.1

I'm just downloading and will provide feedback shortly. On 4.1.2 and using s-voice from the s4. I'm liking the new driving mode feature and it seems to work better than the stock s3 s-voice but too many errors for my liking and that's even speaking slow and clearly with US English

Update - this is definitely better than the stock s-voice but not seeing any noticeable difference compared to the s4 leak. Will test over the next couple of days and report back

Something interesting to note, when I went into settings and "help" one of the examples is turning driving mode on or off yet this version doesn't support driving mode ;)

It does support driving mode but it's not the same as the S4 version.

When in driving mode it just gives you audio event messages. That's all I think.... Wasn't a fan of driving mode on the S4 any way.

Lmao, it's a dump app for a phone you can't even get yet, let them sell 2 or 3 and work the bugs out.

isn't it from the sIII 4.2.1 leak and not from the SVI dump or did I get that wrong?.. and I think Samsung might have already sold a few if them.. with 4.1 but still ;D
imo s-voice is completely useless anyway. seriously in which situations can you talk to your phone without looking like a retard? imagine sitting in the train and the guy next to you says every few minutes: 'turn wifi off', 'send message to Michael', 'how did xy play on the weekend'..
OK maybe the car mode might be interesting, I personally have a motorbike.. so - no s-voice.
and I also have never ever seen anyone else talking to their phones, not even those apple geeks.. maybe because I'm german and we're always at least some month behind the newest trend.. :)
don't get me wrong, nice gimmick of samsung and thanks for spreading it here, but most of the time only to play around with :D

You basically answered your own question.

S-Voice is awesome while driving. You can call, text, navigate hands free. But yeah if you use it in the train you look like a lunatic.

What kind of bike do you have? I have a Thundercat.

I tried most of the possible actions.. and none of them worked really good, especially when I imagine that I would have to concentrate on my imaginal car while talking to my phone.
maybe that's because l've set it to German, might work better in English like Google now does :( but i don't speak English good enough to use my s-voice in english. (what would, again, look pretty stupid if everyone around speaks german :)

and the bike thing: also yamaha driver! officially I have to ride my xt 125 because I'm not 18 yet and 125ccm is the maximum allowed for u18s here in germany. :crying: but my dad's old xt 600 from the 80's is waiting for me to turn 18 + get the official driver license ;) and it's f**kin awesome. 1 cylinder, nice deep 4stroke sound and enough power, especially for a 'beginner' (once again we have regulations here in germany, limited hp for 'newbies', another licence.. damn). and I'm to big (length and wide-wise;)) for a racing bike, so motocross it is :) nice to see other people around on xda with similar hobbies :good: you don't play/like rugby by chance as a British man? ;D

now back to topic, don't wanna spam this thread ;)

Not sure on that one, I do know the S-voice I downloaded was from the s4 dump, and not the 4.2.1. Their may have been two different dumps though. I don't use it at all, but did test it just to check it out and say I've got it. I believe mind is the 10.0 release... I would check out the German on this one, but I don't speak German with any fluency what-so-ever.

I'm a fan of the driving mode for reading and sending text messages, adding reminders/calendar appointments and searching for locations using Google navigation as I travel a lot for work. I've found that all versions of s voice so far have let me down and only 70% of the time gets it right.
I used to own an iPhone 4s and have to admit that Siri is a big step above s voice but I'm glad Samsung are working to make it better and can't wait to see the improvements
