Samsung Galaxy S10
I have an s10 that crashed and went to the SS RDX screen, with the big red text saying that it was caused by a Watchdog Reset. I have tried to put it into recovery mode, download mode, and do a full wipe and reset but no luck and always ending up back at the SS RDX screen. I've also tried exiting RDX but that does nothing. I have tried using smart switch to do a reset or an Emergency Software Recovery but it says "failed to connect the device" and the device is not listed in the pop-up menu. I have also tried to use Odin to flash a fresh firmware but that fails with "can't open the serial(COM) port.". I have also made sure that the Samsung USB drivers are up to date (v1.5.27.0).

Hi Balkebob, this is the only thread on the entire internet that has the exact same SS RDX Watchdog reset screen I have. All I did was try to flash to stock Samsung unbranded firmware on my s10 and I'm completely stuck on this RDX screen also. (This same procedure just worked fine on my wife's s10, same model number and CDC so totally stumped!)

No way to get into download mode, although Odin detects the phone from the RDX screen, I get nothing but "SetupConnection...." forever

Did you ever find a fix? Pulling my hair out

Though I'm using Note 10 plus, I had the same issue when flashing rom.
Switch off your phone with the key combo, then use the download mode combo.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately there is no combination of key presses that gets it out of RDX Watchdog mode.

Update on mine: I purchased mine from Reebelo and sent them a support request as a hail mary. To my utter surprise they sent me a shipping label to send to their techs. 1 week later and they have it repaired and have shipped it back no cost!

I wish I knew how they fixed it though

Here to echo the same exact issue on my Tab S6. Started yesterday, threw it on the charger while it was at 40% battery and working fine. Charged for about an hour, came back to it in a constant boot loop. I can get to the SS RDX screen as discussed in this thread, and can even get it into Download mode, where I re-flashed the OEM T-Mobile software for mine. Odin said that was successful, but I can't get out of this boot loop, or get into recovery mode no matter what I do.

Should also note that my Tab S6 is stock and not rooted.

If you all notice it states on screen how to leave this. Press power and volume down. Now if there's a problem with the devices software it'll probably send you back, however if you hold down power, volume up and bixby button at the same time it should send you into download mode.

How did you get it into Odin mode? Also have you figured out how to get into recovery mode? I'm trying to figure them both out right now myself. Because I don't know how to get it out of a boot loop if it should happen

Odin Mode was accessible by following the steps on this site Samsung Tab S6 Recovery Mode.

But in my case that didn't matter, because while it would boot into Odin Mode, and "pretend" it was accepting a manual software install, it never worked. Even after manually flashing the official T-Mobile Samsung software, it still would not boot into Android, or allow me to access Recovery mode. Even though I received no errors, and it said the software flash was successful.

In my case, my tablet had a mainboard failure. Ended up sending it back to Samsung for out-of-warranty repair, at a price I'm not proud to admit to paying.

I do have to say that although I paid exorbitantly for it, Samsung's support was top notch, and had my tablet back to me in under a week.

That really sucks I have never heard of anyone having such a thing happen although I know there's always bad ones in every batch usually. It's never when it's in the 1 year warranty either. It's always a couple of months pass warranty and now it fails.

I figured out how to get it into Odin mode than recovery. It's the same process it's always been once your in Odin mode but before your in Odin mode you can't force reboot into recovery. You have to power off and then boot into recovery. That's not good because if your in a bootloop you can't power off. So I still haven't figured out how I am going to do anything if I get in a bootloop.

If you try to force reboot to recovery with the button combo power and volume down and switch to volume up for recovery when screen goes black it will go to rdx mode everytime. I hate it I don't understand why Samsung changed it.

I had same problem because PIN was forgotten and only way to power off the phone is to force reboot (power + volume down). Problem is holding the power + volume down for 7 seconds triggers the RDX menu instead of the recovery menu.

Here was my fix:
1) let the battery drain to zero
2) recharge a little
3) turn on the phone with the recovery menu combination (power + volume up + bixby button)

This got me into the recovery menu instead of RDX menu and I was able to factory reset

Hello Everyone,

Like you all I'm currently dealing with the issues in this thread. This is the only place on the internet that I've found people with this same issue. Stuck in a boot loop that I can only get into watchdog. I took this to every tech repair company and even two "Samsung reps" and none of them knew a thing. Funny enough, I'm a new college graduate with a technology degree in cyber security and I'm struggling to get this figured out. But, I'm hopeful I can based on the troubleshooting I've done for the last 10 hours.

What I have here is three screens I can get to (boot loop, Watchdog, & the download screen). The boot loop is only able to get to the watchdog, the watchdog can only get to the download screen or be rebooted back into the boot loop. The download screen does nothing. Can only restart the phone and get back to the boot loop. In my 10 or so hours of trying every key combo in each screen you can think of, there was one time I was able to get to the recovery screen. I'm not sure how I did it & in the moment I was astonished it got there.

I should have stopped there and researched my recovery options on what would be the highest likely-hood of getting me to transfer the data on my device. I selected the repair option hoping that Samsung was smart enough to create a software repair tool that would fix this issue. It did not... just "repaired" and rebooted which got me back into boot loop. Now 2 hours later I'm trying to figure out how the phone directs itself to the recovery mode in this current state. As of this writing I have yet to find a way to get it back to recovery mode.

Based on how you get to recovery mode normally, you have to hold power + up volume key when the phone powered off and release when it buzzes to power on. When you're stuck in a boot loop the phone never really is powered off and/or there is a millisecond where it is and I was able to time it just right that one time to get it to go to recovery mode. I don't believe my device is damaged from a hardware perspective or maybe even a software perspective. I'm just stuck in this weird bug that is capable of getting out of, at least to recovery mode. I have data on this phone that isn't fully backed up so I just need to get data off of it. Based on what stated so far I think I have a 40% chance of solving all of this.

If I resolve or make progress, I will return to you all.

All right everyone hope this solution works for everyone, just figured it out after coming across a s10e with rdx protection.
The rdx protection is triggered when power and vol down are pressed for 7 seconds.
Based on the text, holding power + vol down for 3 seconds exits the rdx mode.

    The solution:
    1. hold the vol up + vol down + power buttons for 3 seconds
    2. after 3 seconds release the vol down button but keep holding the remaining two until the system enters recovery mode.

    Hope this helps.
