Hi guys. I am also facing the same utterly slow wifi issue. I noticed this issue when I was watching Netflix, it was buffing a lot. I thought it's a poor internet connection at first. Then I downloaded the torrent to my NAS and tried to copy the movie to my phone. That's when I confirmed the wifi issue. S20 FE 5g is downloading only at 10 to 20 Mbps speed where my k20 pro downloading at 300 to 400 Mbps speed. S20 FE speed is really slow here. For the first few Mins, it is downloading at full speed, after that wifi drops to a max of 20 Mbps. Today I tried to do a deep benchmark. I thought it was due to thermal throttling. I installed the iperf server in my ubuntu-desktop, iperf client in my S20 FE. I ran the bandwidth test for about 20 mins. Where my phone reached 60c within 10 mins. But surprisingly through the test wifi speed was mostly at 650mbps. Few times it dropped to 300mbps. I immediately tried to copy files from NAS to S20 20, again speed was very slow, maxing at 20 Mbps. Once I restart the phone, it is again coping very fast for few mins. So I think it is related to a software issue may be like prioritising and de-prioritising background and foreground apps. I have attached the screenshots. I will do even more testing and keep you guys posted.

Update 1: After tried to copy the files from local NAS to phone speed was dropped to 20 Mbps. out of curiosity I tired to run the same IPerf Test one more time now Iperf speed is also drop to 50 Mbps.

I am due to get my replacement unit sometime today. I am keeping expectations low because this issue is more or less confirmed to be present in this particular batch/software iteration.

I am more concerned about what to do after getting the unit. Live with it hoping that a future software update might fix this throttling? Or get back to dealing with Amazon support to get a refund.

I really like the phone otherwise and there is no other model currently that I am interested in. S21 FE might arrive in arrive in January based on the rumors and Samsung would have absurd pricing at launch if it does launch and come to India. I suppose I can manage with S10 Lite for another 5-6 months. But this might truly be the last Snapdragon FE phone to come to the market.

Got the replacement unit. Took less than 10 minutes to see that wifi behavior is same on it. Amazon is again asking me to go through tech visit process before refund can be considered. Next couple of days are again going to be annoying. Factory fitted screen guard has two visible bubbles so that does not help as well. They really need to improve the quality checks on these units being assembled in India.

Same here got replacement unit and after 5 mins only when ps download apps it goes down from 100mbps to 10mbps, Maybe it's a software bug I think, Shud wait for Oct patch and decide to refund or not.

with a short seven day window, amazon does not give you much time. i have applied for a refund. would see if another fe model arrives on the scene in near future. hard to rely on samsung to fix this issue if fixable through a software update without any clarification from their end for this massive issue on the Sep 21 batch. they could have posted a message on their own support forum. instead, they are copy pasting same message everywhere asking users to reset network settings.

heh. phone support guy said that since i already have a tech visit scheduled on 6th, he cannot do anything right now. but he assured me that if that visit does not create a replacement request, i should contact phone support again and they would it from their end. this whole thing is turning into a joke though.

i would do a reset tonight. and test the phone thoroughly through tomorrow. i was just hoping to find someone here who bought the phone during the current sale and got a unit that seems to have stable wi-fi on their phone. because that would indicate hardware fault and not something samsung messed up in their firmware update.

would keep you posted. and please you also update when you get your replacement unit and if it has the same issue or not! cheers.
I didn't face this issue . I had around 3GB data in whatsapp backup and when I got the phone it was able to restore it quickly connected with my wifi . Also in seedtest I'm getting 230 MBPS reading.

That's good. I really have no simple way to test this issue except for installing an app like WiFiMan from Ubiquiti. On the second tab, it shows connection speed to your wireless network. On my S10 Lite, this speed remains stable. On my units, these speeds fluctuated way too much even dropping down to 6mbps at times. All this within 4-5 feet of my router. If you do want to check, try this out and compare the stability of Wi-Fi connection with another device at your home! Thanks.

I had an offtopic question about the s20 fe 5g here. both units i received had damaged screenguard out of the box. amazon listing also has a few comments that talk about damaged screenguard. mine had bubbles which were visible when the display was off and even when display was on over white backgrounds.

I am still using the factory screenguard on my S10 Lite. There are a few scratches here and there but it still has been pretty great not to deal with a third party tempered glass protector. It was flawless out of the box.

Both S10L and S20FE have optical fingerprint sensor so tempered should work with it. From what I have read, ultrasonic fps on the higher end models have issues with glass.

How many of you faced this issue on the units delivered to you.

The screen protector bundled with the device is just to avoid the scratches(during shipments) on display temporarily. Its Better to change it. There were no bubbles with my unit. I changed it with tempered glass(since plastic based protector tend to scratch quickly).

I've also ordered from Amazon, yet to be delivered. Should I cancel it? Have the touchscreen issues posted in this forum & elsewhere have been resolved?

    Hi,

I'm trying to resolve my WiFi problems on Samsung S20 FE 5G. When I download large files (games, updates, big apps) WiFi speed drops from 300 Mbps (that's my provider speed) to < 10 Mbps or even completely stops. It happens after a few minutes of download (sometimes less) - the estimated download time goes from few minutes to few hours. If I continue to download speed usually goes up again after another few minutes. Or I can restart wifi/put phone in airplane mode/restart it - it restores normal WiFi speed.
What I've already tried but didn't help:
    - reset phone network settings
    - reset router to factory settings and tried changing some of its options
    - changed WiFi channel
    - checked in safe mode of the phone
    - tried without my silicone case on the back of the phone (as it might be some overheating issue)
    - set my WiFi network as unmeasured in the phone settings (don't know really if that's the correct name of this setting in English)
    - set WiFi connection to use phone MAC address instead of random one
    - disabled automatic switching to mobile data when wifi connection quality is poor
    - update the phone to latest August version (Android 11)
    - wipe cache partition
    - turned on enchanced processing

On other devices in my network connection is stable with 300 Mbps - checked with Speedtest.net. On 2.4 GHz WiFi problem also occur but only sometimes - on 5 GHz it happens every time. I also didn't notice it on LTE.

It seems that it might be some overheating issue so I've installed CPU monitor to check it - during download temperature went up from 30 Celsius degrees to over 50, then the connection speed dropped, temperature went down to about 40 degrees Celsius and after some time the speed increased again.

Is there any thing I can also do before returning phone to Samsung service?

He claims to not have such issues. He's running the latest update as well, so I'm leaning towards believing that this is not a software issue. Anyways, I got a direct replacement booked by calling Amazon (thanks for the heads up, I'd have had to deal with the technician if done through app)

Hoping this doesn't occur on the replacement unit. Other than this issue I've really come to like the phone. Fingers crossed!

Would do in a couple of hours. It's just annoying that Amazon would not offer a replacement for manufacturing fault within the first week of purchase as per their own policy. And is forcing me to deal with third party outlets who are not going to understand the wi-fi stability issue on this device. They have a stupid app that tests phone and of course, it found my phone properly functional.
Dude call them don't use that ****ty app to find the issue request a call directly rn!

when the device gets a little warm.
yup. this is exactly what happened during the restore process. phone was on charge and it was restoring and updating around 100 apps. internet was extremely slow at the time.

i have a feeling that this is a software issue. samsung is throttling wifi to save on battery or something. BUT. they have had almost a year to optimize wi-fi on this phone.

october update might have a fix assuming they know about this issue. but it is currently available only in europe. it's unlikely india is getting it this week. would have been nice to test out wifi after installing it.

It could be the site doing it . Also turn airplane mode on turn off wifi on phone . Go to developer options at bottom limit back ground processes to one or none. Close all your apps now turn wifi on phone and download your file and just let it be only thing see if that increases download speed. Also you can get 60 0r 120 refresh rate . Powersaving mode automatically puts it at 60. Im trying a new 96hz refresh mode found online supposed to balance smoothness and power.
