S5 only gets 2 bars on international sim

I bought a verizon s5 and am using in dominican republic. I had a nexus 5. When i put sim in i only get 2 bars always and my 4g speed seems very low for being in the exact same place that my nexus got good signal?


Any clues on why?

No clue, in fact there is not do much you could do without root and service menu locked down.
I've been using this Verizon s5 in Colombia and Peru using local sims and no issues at all. Why don't you try another carrier?

Perhaps the Sim you have is not optimized for use with the S5.. Perhaps a new Sim is needed.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 with a Colombian SIM

Am planning to use my S5 in Colombia, mostly Bogota, Villavicencio & Cartagena. Which companies (movistar?)SIM , and type/plan do you recomend? Any instructions as to how to do the "root and service menu locked down"?
