Well somehow this person got it off:

Why do you think it is just a regular screen protector other than some guy on the phone telling you that? The description says that it's a replacement screen protector. What would it be replacing other than the factory-installed Shatter-Shield? Why do you say to look closely? Is that because you see that the screen protector design is not the same as the one that's on an actual S7 active? If so, keep looking closer and you'll notice that the picture is not even of a S7 active as the buttons are like the ones from a previous phone.
What I pulled off seemed like a screen protector but it wasn't the quality of a normal one. It felt different and was a different thickness. I have liquid sapphire on my base display so I don't have to worry about scratches even if it is polycarbonate layered.

It should be the shatter screen. I don't see why they would not call it a screen protector if that's what it is. Here is the link to the instructions and it IS for the S7A straight from Samsung with pictures to match: http://www.samsung.com/us/system/consumer/accessory/et/fg/89/etfg891ctebus/ET-FG891_Quick-Start-Guide-S7-active-replacemen-screen-layer-replacement_2.pdf (letting the link show its from Samsung) Doesn't matter if you spoken to 10 support techs, most companies' support training is abysmal and probably aren't even part of Samsung proper but outsourced. If they were well trained, they would've linked you to those instructions and claim that you can remove the "screen protector" if that's what it really is. In any case, whatever that layer is, it's removable and that's what some are referring to and doing because it scratches easily so it really doesn't matter what it is or what it's called. The unanimous point is that is scratches hella easily and some are willing to remove it completely once scratched to put on a tgsp while others are putting one on anyways even if theirs weren't scratched

And yes there are tgsp w/o sensor holes for phones that support it like my OPO. Here's a perfect example: OPO TGSP Unless you're just referring to the S7A but even then only the camera cutout for some.

I apologize for stirring this up....not my intention at all. In fact I could be very wrong along with some Tech supports as I just read the owners manual for the s7active and on page 6 it describes the replaceable screen layer. So I'll be darned. My apologies again.

Well whatever the reasoning the top layer IS removable and there appears to be a replacement coming direct from Samsung.

You're right and I'm wrong. As I stated above and to an edit even further above I did what any Tech Support person should have done when questioned about the phone....I read the owners manual.....and page 6 clearly describes the top protective polycarbonate layer as being removable and replaceable.

It also states it will easily scratch under 'normal' use.....but that's another subject all together and right now my credit worthiness is about zero.

Alright guys and gals, I've got one of these en route as a warranty replacement (alternative) for a G4. What do I need to know, outside of the need for a screen protector?

Great phone, haven't had any issues with it at all. Battery life is fantastic. You might want a TPU case if you are worried about scuffing the actual phone, but other than that I love it, best phone I've had to date.

Any nuances, quirks, annoyances you've discovered? I never buy cases for my phones, I'm a few notches above anal about taking care of my devices. I've decided to do the liquid screen protection, as mentioned prior in the thread. Seems like a great and minimalist way to protect the finicky screen overlay.

Nothing I can really note to be honest. Marshmallow is a pretty mature OS and I personally haven't found any fault in it. I reboot my device at least once a week. I had to reformat my SD card to have it 'seen' by the phone. Other than that, it's been a fantastic phone, hopefully others can chime in with any concerns/gripes.

As you probably know, updates for the "Active" series usually come a little slower than the regular S series, this is a AT&T unique device so updates always lag a few months behind the regular lineup. I'm OK with that given the battery life, which was the big selling point for me on this device.

Most recent update was only 10 days behind my wife's S7... So vast improvement over previous Active versions.

OK, got my S7A, an upgrade from my S5A that replaced my S4A that I smashed. One thing I really liked on the S5A that annoyed me about the S4A was the ability to scroll endlessly on Home screens and app drawer screens. Now, the S7A has gone back to the way the S4A stopped on end screens forcing you to scroll back to get to beginning screens. Why would they do away with this? If you have a lot of screens it really is a PITA to have to scroll back and forth instead of being able to just scroll endlessly in one direction or the other.

You haven't played around with different launchers? Not meaning to seem insulting, but if you haven't, check out Nova (or others). You can set endless scroll, among a plethora of great options for customizing your home screens.

No, I haven't. I may do so, but I was using the stock launcher on my S5A and expected the same basic functionality on my S7A, not a return to something I disliked on my S4A from 2 years ago. Silly me.

Hi, I just read through this entire thread up until this point, and I was hoping someone would answer a question that was asked a few pages back that got swept under the rug of screen protectors. Has anyone successfully rooted the S7A? And if so would you mind posting a link to the method you used? I really want to get this phone, but only if I can root it. Thank you in advance for any leads anyone can dig up.

I don't think any of them work and they look shady, most likely installing malware of some kind and probably say something like you AV will give false positive but "it's okay". For the adventurous, try them and report back with your results with screenshots. I'll wait till I see something on xda or another reputable forum.
