Hey folks, after the glass over my S7A camera mysteriously broke within the first month I came to find out that this is a fairly common occurrence for this phone and many owners have had the same problem. Both AT$T and Samsung refused to fix what appears to be a manufacturing defect. I have been in touch with a law firm that is preparing a class-action lawsuit on behalf of S7 and S7A owners whose back glass has shattered through no fault of their own and either paid to have it repaired or been refused repair by Samsung. You can contact attorney Joel Garrido at:
[email protected]

You can also go to their website and fill out the info form online.

There are way too many of us with this problem for it to be simple owner error.

Update: after I posted this here, in several other phone forums and on Samsung's own forum I got a call from someone at Samsung. They wanted me to send the phone in for a free repair and a pre-paid mailer showed up the following day. I doubt they will do this for everyone affected, so you may still want to contact the lawyer anyway. Should have it back by Monday. Will report back.

No joy! I got an e-mail from Samsung on Monday saying the part to fix it was not in stock and that it had to be ordered. No idea when it would arrive or how much longer they would have my phone. Ridiculous. Why have me send it in knowing what needed to be fixed and not having the part on hand? I will never buy another Samsung product again. Most horrible customer service I have ever seen.:crying::(

If you grow impatient waiting, it is an easy fix to do yourself. I did it on my AT&T S7 the other day. Bought the part off eBay, they have all OEM carrier variations. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252605291755

Then followed this guide here: https://youtu.be/du1OYeEIX_E The camera glass is optional but only costs $5 for OEM replacement.

Whole thing cost me $17 (I already had the tools), and now looks factory. I understand that's not the reason for your post, but if you get tired of waiting for Samsung it's an option. Good luck with the lawsuit!

S7 Active does indeed have a glass over the camera lens.

As for fixing it yourself, that would not maintain the factory water-resistance.

Got an e-mail on Friday. My phone should be back on Tuesday. We'll see.

Finally got my phone back last Friday, more than 2 weeks since I sent it in. After assuring me they did not need to access the phone (I locked it) they sent it back completely wiped clean. Had to go through the very tedious and time-consuming process of reinstalling all my apps and settings, but lost some things I can never get back. Good thing I have my contacts and emails synced through MS Exchange. Paid apps are a pain to reinstall, though. This made me notice a failing of Google's supposed backup/restore service. It tells you that any app that is backed up will have its data/settings restored upon reinstallation of that app. I have never seen this work. Ever.

In any case, they not only fixed the back glass, but replaced the digitizer screen, as well. Not sure why since there was no issue with it, but they discarded my tempered glass screen protector in the process. At least they didn't send me a refurbished phone (checked the IMEI). Hopefully, the replacement glass will not suffer the same mysterious failure.

The phone immediately updated to Nougat. Among the many changes noticed is that I can no longer use any of the custom wallpapers I had. I install them, but cannot find them when I try to change wallpapers. The Samsung "Themes" appears to be all I can choose from. :(

sorry, but it states very clearly, in the email you would of got, that it will most likely be wiped, and to make sure EVERYTHING is backed before sending in,
how else will they make sure all is fixed, and put back together.... plus just makes sense ! as its possible it could of gotton lost or damaged along the way too !
the best app to back everything up, is SmartSwitch... will back up apps, screen layout, test msgs everything .. and can be exported to memory card etc too ..

is good everythings been fixed properly, gives me hope when i send mine in ... just be glad you got a free server (postage wise) ive gotta pay for mine to the US and back....

and yes Nougat is alot different, and uses a different set of themes/icons, which are not backwards compatible...
mainly cause alot has changed, but its definitely for the better in the long run :) much smoother, with some how even better battery life again !!

That informative e-mail you speak of came 2 days after the pre-paid mailer and 1 day after the postman picked up my phone. The 2 people I spoke with directly by phone assured me that they had no reason to wipe the phone since it was just a hardware repair. They obviously have people either lying or completely inept working the phones.

2 people AT Samsung said that ! think there must of been some kinda communication failure there ! ... and also odd you didnt get postage and handling info with postage label to !
of course they gonna want to test it etc ! "completely inept working the phone" is a bit strong dont ya think! .. they completely fixed your phone! ....
and even still, didnt you want to backup up the phone, just by the mere fact that it was out of your control, so thus at a MUCH higher risk of loss, breakage, or theft ? ..
or just a good point to make a backup anyhow !

anyhows... good phones all sorted now .. !
