open up wifi list on the phone
press and hold on the network once connected
tap manage network settings
tap show advanced options

if ip settings are DHCP, change to static and save.

ensure it can see and shows the router ip address too

All fixes in this thread didnt work. Only happens when i am on Home wifi. Only fix is to toggle wifi on/off and disconnects every 10 mins. Very annoying. All other devices (more than 10) connected to same network doesnt have a problem, just S8

one of the solution that worked for me is to enable "Allow or deny Wifi Roaming scans" in Developer Options. Now i have disconnections every 30 mins, but connects back normal after sometime automatically, unlike before, where i had to toggle wifi switch.

Hi Y'all!
I went with Saurav913 & Saeed13 solutions, but continued to have the same problem - THEN:

I did what Saurav913 on 2017-05-05, 4:43PM did & what Saeed13 on 2017-05-20 2:24AM did, BUT after making sure that ADVANCED/Smart network switch WAS OFF, I forgot & reconnected to my access point/router using STATIC - THEN I forgot the access point/router again - reconnected using DHCP & All was Fine! Weird Huh?!

I believe it is the bluetooth that's causing the problem.

I had the same problem with my S8+ after about a month of having it. Once I disable bluetooth, I don't get this lame message anymore, and internet connects just fine.
But this renders my bluetooth speaker almost useless.

Same issue here. Tried all the solutions in this thread including using static IP. Once it reaches a certain point in my house, the ! icon appears and I need to re-connect to ensure it is working again.
This also happens with the S7 Edge my GF uses.

With 2 laptops, 1 IPAD and 1 Apple phone, we never have issues (all of these are also connected to the 5GHz band.

Just got the S8 and I have 3 Wi-Fi access points at home to cover the whole house. My S8 has been registered with the passwords for all of the APs but it continually rejects the connections with an exclamation mark after the WiFi icon having connected and then shown a message that the Internet connection may not be available.
Yeah, I just got an S8 too, and had the exact same problem. Came looking for answers and found this thread. And then I remembered that I have my router set to block new devices. The device claims it's connected, but it's actually blocked, resulting in that "may not have internet" message. I have to go into the router admin and manually add each new device. Once I did that for my S8, the problem disappeared.

SOLVED!!! How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S8 WiFi Issue, Internet may not be available

Please visit the Youtube video which will give all possible simple alternatives to FIX the issue. In my case, there was SSID conflict between Samsung S8 & my internet provider. You can try these alternatives. :good:

nope nothing to do with any of that. it is clearly some sort of samsung bug. I get the message on my home router but have not had it anywhere else. on my home router no other device has the issue, even my old S5. I don't recall it happening when I first got the s8 so I suspect one of the updates may have introduced it. despite the message saing i "may" not have internet access, it does work (but seems slow and unreliable despite my perfect signal). maybe when we eventually get oreo they might get around to fixing it, or not.

Setting Google DNS solved the problem for me. I will also try the TKP only security settings on router.

I am having Samsung A9 Pro. Everything was fine till I updated to Nougat. The problem seems to be with update.

It's clearly a bug in Android Nougat... I checked with a S6 without Nougat and no issues... My GF Samsung S7 also has this problem.
But all other equipement have no issues; never loose connection to internet.

Changing the DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 in static network did the trick for my J7. I was getting close to throwing the phone through the wall and buying a new non-Samsung device after spending too long online looking for a solution (and doing a factory reset). Thanks so much and @#$# you, Samsung.

Strangely enough, I have the 'internet is not available' icon on the status bar on the S8. But I was able to browse and basically, internet is active. Just weird.

Yeah, you will still be able to, but the connection will be intermittent. It will be very apparent when watching YouTube.

I found out using terminal emulator that the ip address of the device is the same as the broadcast address. Seems to be the issue, but I dont know how to solve it
