so the solution is to not have external card? I took mine out and testing your theory.. so far so good.. but I need the extra memory.. maybe if we tried formatting under nougat? my card was originally in my note7.. please share your thoughts.

no issues with unmounting... it is almost full of my VR vids... just so frustrating considering this is supposed to be the best phone on the planet... aaarrggg! I did a factory reset .. didn't add any software and it still crashed and restarted..

T-mobile S8+ and just had my first restart.

Phone was fine for 2 days then I put a brand new formatted Samsung 256gb card in and transferred some music, videos, and pictures over and about 10 minutes after using it with the SD card in the reboot happened.

Looks like it def has to be a bug with the phone and using the SD card.

NOT using an SD card is not a solution (for me at least)

Ever since I removed my card my phone is working perfectly I agree that not having external memory is not an option I'm really disappointed to find that another to 56 properly formatted still did not work because that's what I was going to try when I got home

I have no SD card issues here either I have 128gb Samsung Evo + UHS-I works great I have almost filled it with music

I also use Iris scanner as well as fingerprint scanner at the same time :)

Not had a single reboot in 8 days of usage with my pre order early release on Vodafone UK

How much internal memory do you guys have that are experiencing reboots?

Have you also filled the internal too? I know this sounds silly but sometimes low internal storage sometimes causes random reboots

Also have you tried smaller sized SD cards see if the problem still exists to eliminate the large card size issue

Was the card formatted in the phone or in a computer sometimes formatted in a computer the cluster size that a PC uses can cause issues in a phone

My internal memory at about 75%... My 256 was totlay full..
Took it out and . Am transferring all data and will format on s8+... tried 16g . No problem..... just put in a 64g from my tablet.. So far so good...perhaps. it's the 256g that's the problem.

Over on the official Samsung boards there is over 20 pages with people having this problem.

Some people have returned their phones 2 or 3 times for new ones and are still having the same problem.

According to the board Samsung IS AWARE of the problem and looking into it. It has also been reported on some major tech sites which is not good news for Samsung.

You guys that are having issues...

Do you have a Micro SD in the phone?
Yes! 128g from previous Note Edge---worked fine. Now I'm thinking its the culprit. But I dunno.
I have been having random card recognition issues. The icon will randomly show up in notifications as tho Ive just mounted it and asking if I want to trnsfer media files. Also, apps I've moved there sometimes take overlong to "wake up". ie they are greyed-out for a minute or so. I dont think thats normal. Also, I listen to podcasts incessantly, and the downloads dont seem to ACTUALLY save to card and are saved to internal, despite my player settings to the contrary!

So, yeah, I'm pretty concerned with the random restarts. Theyre happening every hour or more!!! After reading here, I'm even more concerned that its not fixable.

Ive just umounted my card, and having the phone do ANOTHER backup restore, and use the phone without card to see...

You can add my phone to the restart issue...

I'm getting the same problem on my S8 standard. Randomly, the screen will have some artefacts appear (nearly always on the bottom) then it just restarts. Happens in safe mode too so it doesn't appear to be an app causing it. Phoned Samsung and they told me to send it back to the retailers and ask for a replacement.

So that sucks. Besides on this forum I haven't seen anyone else talking about this, so I guess it's not a wide spread problem.

Just a very simple issue. My phone reboots when it wants to not when I have asked it. I've talked to Samsung Premium and they knew nothing so I am getting another phone sent to me. We'll see if it is fixed. I have read from one other that they got another phone and it was still rebooting. [shrug]

Yes, this happens to me too. I've had a 256GB micro SD in since I got the phone. The random reboots started happening once I moved my photo directory and some of my bigger apps from internal memory to external. I had to do this since my prior phone, a Galaxy S6, had a whopping 128GB internal memory and I had a ton of apps, pictures, and videos on it,....whereas this Galaxy S8+ only has a measly 64GB internal. I'll live with this problem for now until Samsung fixes it.

My phone was locking up,restarting and constantly freezing until I took the microsd card out. Now it works great. My micro sd was a samsung brand. Have you seen any issues with your card unmounting randomly?

Yes. And greyed out and missing apps that were moved onto card (PNY 128g).
Ive taken out card now and BU/restored and now no issues. But, this isnt a solution! I want the ability to have external storage!!

Soooo....no issues now after unmounting card, and using w/o card for more than a day. Not a solution though. Hope issue gets addressed, I want external storage!

Did you restore from your old phone with Smart Switch? Sometimes Samsung's or third party apps can create version conflicts when they're moved over. BTW, where are you and what's the region of your phone?

My s8 plus just rebooted itself for first time today since I received it on launch day or about 2 weeks. I did use the smart switch to transfer all of my data over from my s7 edge. Can you elaborate further on what I need to do to check this out before it becomes a bigger problem? I also do not have a micro card in my phone.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. I sent it back for another, and I have the same problem again, I rage ...

I do not have a SD card. I have an equinox so the problem does not come from the snapdragon.

There is still a small difference with my first phone, it is that there it locks before restarting, while before it restarted without locking.

I tried everything to locate the problem but with no result.

Mine too

Last week sometime, I wanna say after the most recent software update, my s8 started doing the random restarts. I'd be listening to Spotify and all of a sudden the music cut out. I'd look down to see "Samsung" across the screen as it reboot. Still better than my s4 (my previous phone).

Dang, my USA T-Mobile S8 started rebooting itself randomly as of last evening when I plugged it into its fast charger adapter. I walked away for a few minutes and came back to see the Android rebooting icon. After which it said I must enter my PIN code as all iris and finger print or facial unlock functions are disabled after reboot until your PIN code is entered to unlock it first. I unlocked it and let it finish rebooting and went to sleep. This morning again it was in the rebooted condition and I had to enter PIN to unlock it. I used the phone all day today using Google GPS for driving directions... in the middle of the GPS navigation it again rebooted out of nowhere.
Again a few hours later while I was taking pictures, it crashed and rebooted again. Dang! I get home and started saving my pictures off the 128GB microSD card I have installed in it. I started sending some of the pics in Hangouts and bam, it rebooted again just now. I never had this reboot issue before applying the latest "Red Tint fix" update so I wonder if it is related to the that most recent update.
I plan on contacting Samsung Store (where I pre-ordered my T-Mobile S8 from) and asking for a replacement phone. I do have the slight red tint especially at the left and right edges of my screen even after the "Fix" update. So I am not feeling good about this right now.

My phone was fine for exactly 2 weeks until Friday. Then the 1st reboot happened. Now the 2nd just happened a few minutes ago. It flashed my AT&T app quit working right before the restart. What is going on?
My T-Mobile S8 started randomly rebooting on me a couple of nights ago too. I thought it might be related to the external Sandiisk Ultra 128GB micro SD card getting file corruptions and causing the reboots but after checking the files on the card, they are all just fine. So it is not my micro SD card. However, I did install a weather app called "Realtime Weather" that I recall the day that the reboots started happening all of a sudden. There was a widget it installed too called Rainy Weather which I put on my home screen. Yesterday, I uninstalled that app and today, so far, I've not had any more random reboots. So I will keep watching to see if it will still reboot out of nowhere after uninstalling that app. If it reboots again, I will report back here. So far, so good though. So everyone having random reboots, try to remove any recent apps you might have installed before the reboots started happening. I'm not saying that's the cause for sure, but so far, I've not had a reboot today where before I would have had several random reboots already.
