Yes there are improvements that I immediately noticed after upgrading from oreo. with pie, low light hdr seems to activate more often than in oreo, thus it became more aggressive. Scene optimizer too is an added great option, I personally leave it turned on.
But ugrading to pie also means you'd lose some nifty features like the pro mode video recording were removed.
Overall, it's still a great upgrade if you can tolerate its flaws. In my opinion, there's a great improvement in camera since s9 got updates for the improvement of camera app itself, its speed, functionality and stability.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback , Yes removing the Pro mode from video recording was a D- Move from Samsung . There is no logical explanation apart from one way of forcing us to buy S10.

I don't think the s10 has pro video mode either or shutter button zoom.

Selective focus blur has been toned down so much it's not worth using anymore.
Yes you're right, the galaxy S10 series don't have pro video or shutter zoom...
I also had the same problem with selective focus.
Let's hope samsung realise these things and fix them for us.
But overall one UI is much better than oreo.

I agree on these two statements especially with the selective focus mode. When you take photos with this mode during the night, its produced image is so much worst than oreo's selective focus. The image is just so brighter yet more noisier. Definitely a big no

Exactly. Even if there's enough light indoors, the photo looks so bright and washed out, the resulted photo is definitely unusable.

I wonder if samsung really did that on purpose. They've changed it for the worst
I hope they'll adress it soon...
The problem with samsung is once they have something major and new, they stop taking care of the small things or the previous generation of phones... But since the pro video and other camera features are missing in the S10 as well, they should fix it as soon as possible.

I just want the original camera software back, it didn't need a dedicated night mode, night shots were amazing. So basically they have made our camera quality look inferior to boost the s10 look and are now giving us a cut down version of the s10s night mode, Jesus we are being played. The s10 has the same hardware camera as the s9 so why isn't it giving identical results ?

Why would they give S9 exact same quality as their latest flagship? They want to sell phones

Also they didn't have to backport S10 features for us, they could have left it S10 exclusive

What features ? They have taken away features fgs ?

Night mode and live focus blur adjust, Samsung have always removed features without notice, I've been with them since the S5, you know what you're getting into if you buy Samsung and if you don't you should have researched first, personally I didn't even know Pro mode for Video existed so I am guessing it was not used by as many as people think, so they removed it, same happened with the photo editor with the resize option on the S7, I used that all the time but apparently not many others did so they removed it ( I asked why and that was their reply)

Delaying updates would have also been another way to wait and see if you should or should not update to Pie, and for a long time you could still flash back to Oreo, why only now are you saying you want the old camera software back when you've had months to flash back?

End of the day you're stuck with pie, so enjoy it and stop wanting old stuff that you cannot have, it won't fix anything ;)

I can't flash back without rooting and voiding the warranty as they have changed the binary, I'm not just complaining for the sake of it mate, do you think I'm here for the attention ?

Yes I do sometimes, your first posts about Pie was complaining about it too, then suddenly you loved it, now you hate it again, your posts are all saved here mate for anyone to read, you change your mind every other week about Pie

You're happy with the phone good for you, stop trying to make me look like a **** for not being happy with the phone I purchased and for being [email protected] off when they remove features I used a lot.

You make yourself look like a d*ck when you constantly change your mind about whether or not you like it, I just reply to you bud, I don't speak for you, as I said you've had Pie for months now and had to ability to flash back without rooting for a long time, I even wrote you out a guide originally when you were crying about it, but you decided not to do it, and now because of the bootloader update you cannot flash back, and suddenly you are crying again

Make your mind up, stop spamming the thread with "I HATE IT" "I LOVE IT" , nobody cares

Thread is for useful info, complaining is not useful

Pie came in January with bootloader version 2, it still had version 2 until the April update, so you had 4 months of Pie when you could have flashed back without rooting

You already knew that anyway as you asked if it was true you could not flash back anymore since this latest update, not more than a week or two ago

Night shots look actually better in pie than oreo, especially with HDR improvements and scene optimizer, and sometimes I have better low light photos than my friend's S10+ (using auto mode).
The only advantage that the S10+ has is the better HDR, it's obvious since the S10+ has a better chip which means better image processing without taking more time...
Anyways, I'll compare both phones with night mode when I receive the update and I'll tell you the results.
