I think we could have expected this all along; especially since they can't even get us, the Infuse, or the Vibrant Gingerbread a year after Gingerbread was released, and five months after AT&T committed to Gingerbread for the Captivate and Infuse.through official twitter, and here is upgrade plan. http://www.samsungtomorrow.com/2033
at&t committed to GB for the Captivate? I know there were the leaks, but I don't remember hearing anything official about it.I think we could have expected this all along; especially since they can't even get us, the Infuse, or the Vibrant Gingerbread a year after Gingerbread was released, and five months after AT&T committed to Gingerbread for the Captivate and Infuse.
That has nothing to do with the I9000...I think we could have expected this all along; especially since they can't even get us, the Infuse, or the Vibrant Gingerbread a year after Gingerbread was released, and five months after AT&T committed to Gingerbread for the Captivate and Infuse.

If I told you I was a heroin addictI've read some conflicting reports that Samsung Galaxy S ......
They did - press release is here http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/att-customers-to-enjoy-gingerbread-126113088.htmlat&t committed to GB for the Captivate? I know there were the leaks, but I don't remember hearing anything official about it.
Hope I'm wrong, so the source will drop for all the excellent dev's still working on the Cappy!
The Rogers Captivate was released October 30, 2010. So the Rogers Captivate should get ics as it is suppose to be kept up to date for 18 months or to April 30, 2012. The Rogers Captivate is almost identical to the AT&T one. That has nothing to do with the I9000...
Samsung has been great about updating that device. Not getting gingerbread for those u.s. Phones is a carrier issue.
This is a manufacturer "retiring" a product. Which they are only required by google to keep the phones up to date 18 months after release. So this makes perfect sense.

Don't bet on it. The 18 month pledge only applied to phones released after Google IO in 2011. I think it's safe to assume that no Galaxy S versions will get an official ICS from Samsung. CM9 is probably the best bet.The Rogers Captivate was released October 30, 2010. So the Rogers Captivate should get ics as it is suppose to be kept up to date for 18 months or to April 30, 2012. Two words: Kernel Source.I really don't know why anyone cares is this any surprise? Aren't we all here mainly for custom roms anyway? All and all 18 months of support is pretty good and there is nothing in it for Samsung to give it to us anyway. Most people have already moved on, and if you haven't your probably out of warrenty so put a custom roms on, otherwise your probably close to the end of your contract or at least an early upgrade.
I don't think touchwiz is to blame here, I think that was just a pr move as they've already been under fire over updates anyway. I still wonder if we're getting gingerbread, I mean we've had leaked official roms since June, I almost think at&t doesn't want to waste the server bandwidth
