depends on what you consider bloat honestly.. apple youre forced to use only their apps and apps they approve of.. they have a bigger monopoly than google.. lack customization and freedom to develop like android has (of fourse you can make apps for apple devices but its not as free as android).. you have to buy everything.. android you can easily disable any "bloat" and theres plenty developer friendly devices you can unlock and root as you please if thats what youre after.. either way, i just have a different opinion so not trying to talk you out of anything lol.. and there still is a lot of users on xda daily.. of course for some devices its not as active as it used to be but there are lots of active devices/forums.. i personally like it like that.. u go to any other development forums and its bombarded with garbage, scams, people selling stuff and arent really good for development at all since its just ppl selling sim unlocks and stuff like thatJust don't like the fact that i have to order 3 extra 4 year old model phones to be able to unlock the bootloader and root it after each one breaks. And regardless of my disdain for iphones, they don't come preloaded with malware like the carrier bloat for almost every android phone out there. If I can't easily root the phone to remove preloaded bloatware/malware there is no plus side to all the extra effort to stay with android anymore.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm not the only one that feels this way. There was a time each of the forums on XDA would have hundreds/thousands of daily visitors.
