So after side loading 2.4 a little while ago in a previous post I got a pop up lately that said I had to update Samsung Pay but it wouldn't let me update (assuming because I have the Note 7), and if I didn't update it, it would close. so I looked for the latest version: 2.5.02 apk found here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...ease/samsung-pay-2-5-02-android-apk-download/

When I installed Samsung Pay it was acting up, my phone kept vibrating as if the credit card was trying to "come out". It kept doing it and Samung Pay wouldn't open. I didn't see an option to rollback the updates on my T-mobile version otherwise I'd try to get one before 2.4. However, I deleted the cache and data for both the Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay Framework, crossed my fingers and......VOILA! Samsung Pay 2.5.02 works!! lol I was able to load 2 credit cards back on. I tested the process of unlocking the card to use and there were no problems. Just need to try it at the store but its good to go/safe to try. I will add that when I first started up the app, it mentioned a notice regarding the Note 7 recall. It works though.

A note I will add regarding points from your credit card. I am a preferred customer at bank of america and they give me an extra 75% points. So instead of earning 4 points I earn 7. I noticed on my rewards page which (shows in real time regarding points earned/pending) when I use Samsung Pay, I did not earn the bonus points. Thats a biggie to miss out on. Money talks so I will probably just use Samsung Pay sparingly, as a backup and when I forget or don't have my cc. :( I still love Samsung Pay and its a top favorite feature on the Samsung phones for me. Something to keep in mind though if you get bonus points on top of the regular points from your credit card issuer.

It works but Samsung also screwed us - Note 7 is no longer a "qualifying device" and therefore cannot be used to redeem reward points.
EDIT: Actually, looks like redeeming points does work in the app.

Something weirder happened to me yesterday.

I got a notify that there was a Samsung Pay update so I tapped it.

The update ran (apparently) succesfully, but then the device immediately locked the UI (almost no more interaction with it) and a strange heartbit-like vibration started.

The only thing I could do was the access to the Power menu and nothing else.

Thanks God after rebooting I was quick enough to run Package Disabler and succesfully disable Samsung Pay.

After having uninstalled everything and installed manually latest framework & APK the issue was gone.

The most freaky issue I ever had...

Thanks. I'll probably try to get 1200 points by buying 30 things in the next couple days and try to redeem something physical though.
I bet if a Note 7 owner were to win something substantial, Samsung would shut it down since we are all technically ineligible for reward points.

Sorry for the numpty question, but why does Samsung Pay exist, when we already have Android Pay? I use Android pay with my Note7 and it works perfectly. Why would I need Samsung Pay?

We are slow to adapt NFC terminals. Not every business has them.
Same in the UK. In a way it's bizarre, but the smaller retailers tend to have them, whereas some of the big players have been much slower. I guess if you are a small shop, buying a couple of new card readers is small change, but if you are Tesco and have 100,000 devices to replace, it's a bigger challenge.

Thanks. That sounds really cool.

But you do have contactless payment (NFC) in the US, right? Or maybe not, I don't know?
Yes, but as the other poster said it's very slow. What surprises me the most is the number of people who still don't know about Samsung Pay. I have it happen fairly often when I'm shopping where the cashier will try and stop me and say "oh we don't have that here" to which I reply yes you do. Then I complete the transaction and they either ask what it is or just look at me a little surprised. It cracks me up every time, my big thing is waiting for the time that I accidentally leave my wallet at home. I always have my phone on me so I know I will always have access to my credit or debit cards. That's one of the reasons why Samsung pay is so awesome in my opinion ?.

how would i know where samsung pay is accepted?

you all got me excited now i want to get one, plus im one of those people who would leave home to go to get some groceries, put the items all in the basket only to find out at the cashier that i forgot my wallet. My phone.. well my phone is even in the washroom with me. cant forget that. laugh.

I would have to get CIBC visa tho, since thats the only bank that works with Samsung pay right now.

It's not available in the UK unfortunately. I don't know why.

Also, I wonder if Android Pay will eventually support MST? It would seem a lot easier to add MST support to Android Pay than to replace millions of card readers out there. Surely Google must be looking at it?

Not all terminals support nfc, so using the magnetic strip works on Samsung Pay.
