Samsung Considering A Note 7 Recall

Search This thread
This is interesting, if the design of the Note 7 is the issue, will new batteries help? I bet the CPSC is wondering that too. Here's the article on Bloomberg that goes into detail- http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...n-in-rush-to-capitalize-on-uninspiring-iphone

The issue was with only that battery manufacturer. They most likely couldn't produce cells thin enough and so squished them a little to fit.
I hope so, I'm seriously thinking about exchanging the S7 edge on one of my lines (new line as of last Tuesday) for a good Note 7 on Wednesday.

I wonder if any are in today. West coast will probably get it first and I'll have to wait til Wednesday, I'm in RI. I miss the Note :crying:
Me too! I'm going to call our local Verizon corporate store today (Ukiah, rural Northwestern California) and see if they have any in, they open at 10. My suspicion is that stores will probably have stock before Wednesday, but won't actually open it for sale until that day. Oh, apparently people in the UK are getting emails from Samsung saying Wednesday will be the day replacement Note 7's will be available there, too.

Ouch. If that's true, then Wednesday is only for replacement Note 7's, new people will have to wait until October 21st.

That's one of the best explanations of what happened that I've read so far. Thanks for sharing the link.

Well, I placed my order for a new Note 7 (Black Onyx) this morning, it ships out today, and it'll be here tomorrow! Here I go again on my own, going down the only road I've ever known, like a drifter I was born to walk alone [emoji124] I'll report back on it when it comes. The S7 edge is going back, it's nice, but it just can't compare to the beast that is the Note 7 [emoji16]

One other thing, the Note 7 is annual upgrade eligible, so you can upgrade every 12 months, not just when you've paid the entire phone off.

Mine has them I'm in Maryland...some things I was watching on YouTube...

Samsung pay info is deleted.. So gift card and so on are gone.. They say you have to go through your emails and enter in your gift card info.
Smart switch takes a long time if you have a lot of text, apps and so on

I placed my order for my replacement Note 7 via phone w/a verizon rep on Tuesday Sept 20. I asked about getting a Samsung VR Head set because I see that Samsung is offering that to customers who bought directly from them. Although he said he couldnt get me the headset for free, he wa able to knock down the price to $25. I am hoping that I will still get the $25 credit that verizon is offering so that the headset WILL be free when all is said and done. I am still waiting on a tracking number though. (edit: I just contacted verizon and they supplied me with the tracking # , so tomorrow Thursday,it will be here.)

So, it appears you can get Note 7's again online from Verizon, I just went through the motions, and I could get a new one to me on Wednesday. I checked on picking it up at our local store (Ukiah, CA), but it said "nope", which I expected.

I am truly at a loss here. I just got off the phone with verizon and now they say they wont have the new phones before the 30th but we have to exchange the phone before the 30th. what the hell are you supposed to do if you still want a note 7

Stop believing those liars lol, they have no clue. I went to Verizon today and one of the reps told me they don't have the phones and they have no clue when they are coming in. On my way out I ran into an old high school friend and told me my situation. He laughed and said come here, he opened a locked cage in the back and I'll be damned new note 7.... I know they were because they have that s sticker on the box. He said reps are told to say that to people because they can't release the new models until Samsung and consumer report/fcc gives the okay. (I may have quoted the gov bodies involved incorrectly)

So far, it's only affecting international models, it's still up for sale at all five US carriers, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

I actually called Verizon(my attempt was the actual store, but I somehow was ported to crc) yesterday and I was told by the reo to go I the store to exchange the device.. So I trek 3 cities to my closest store, only to be told they do not have stock in yet..

The person and myself talked, and he was saying the standard at this point. And was, just like myself, surprised and not surprised that I was told that.. But he did mention sometime later this week to call and see if they have them in stock for an exchange.. Because I don't want any other phone whatsoever...

They said it's not even effecting .1% of the phones on the market. I doubt anyone really needs to be concerned. And if there is a recall, they'll probably limit it to certain serial numbers that contained the batch of bad batteries, or other source of the issue.
