Hello there, I posted an advise on Youtube, have a look at installing the displaylink presenter app apk and see if it works. Exynos has DP output through USB-C so in theory should help.
Yep, if I'm using my note 9 with an external monitor, my audio works without the help of any other apps..

Gonna try the app with hp lapdock later :D

I got a lap dock, used but okay condition. UK keyboard too. When I plug the Note 9, the lapdock keeps rebooting constantly - the keyboard works however.

I tried using my son Note 8, it behaved the same but for a moment it shown the screen, keyboard and touchpad worked fine. Weird really. After I retry with either phone it never worked again.

I tested also wirelessly, casting via Samsung Smart Things and it works fine but keyboard was not good: it kept doing double key-presses. The touchpad did not work in this mode. The audio quality in this mode was very good.

Forgot to mention the version installed: 8.0.11.0

I like the idea from @Xamadeu that I could install the necessary apps on a windows laptop, but it says my device is incompatible. Could you maybe extract the .appx packages that are downloaded using fiddler, and share them with us so we can force the install on our non-HP or incompatible laptops? I'm quite convinced that the app itself would run, but that the distribution from microsoft filters out based on arbitrary criteria such as brand name etc.

I (Xamadeu) can't, because i sold my used x3. But the idea is good. Perhaps somone else can. Or someone must buy a device again.

You're right, I'm even considering doing the same as you, did you manage to ~ break even on your x3 trades? I found 150$ deals, but not sure how likely I am to sell it back for the same price

FYI, dockless dex is re-enabled with with One UI beta on the snapdragon S8s.

Back when the Oreo beta for s8 worked with the x3, I had bought one but then after Samsung disabled dockless Dex, I sold it.

I have now rebought the x3 lapdock and hope to use it with the s10 when it comes out

Did anyone try to replace Android and to install Desktop Linux version? I wonder how would it work.
Will it be capable to run basic apps (browser, etc.) without lags?

replace android?

do you mean linux on dex by any chance?

its a fully working ubuntu.
YouTube video has 0 lags or video image tearing.

didn't play with it alot but reading this will probably give you more insight than random people answering you:

Hey guys, I'm planning to buy an HP Lap Dock for my S8 running latest Pie update. Could this work, or do I have to get a legit DeX docking station?
if its rooted:
and kernel has been modded to then yes.

on stock:
i am not sure if the pie update unlocked the note 8 from having to use only legit samsung dex. buy an elcheapo dongle first to test it out 1st. if that works then chances are the laptop will work.

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately my S8 is still on stock since I have bought it. Good thing though that the DeX docking station's price isn't that expensive anymore.

I have a HDMI to DVI cable and a monitor with a resolution of 1440×900, is it possible that it could work?

Yes, in fact, DeX was introduced with the S8 series for the first time back in early 2017.
